Friendly staff, early check during the heat wave which was very welcome, safe place to store our bikes and a large room.

My husband managed to get a smile from the receptionist on our last day of stay. It makes such a difference to guests in what we understand is a very tough and challenging hospitality business. Location to town & beautiful lake the picture shows the medieval chateau and the hotel is immediately below it.

Lovely old building in a square by the lake - our ground floor room was spacious, quiet & spotless. Fantastic value for money - we also had a good supper. Big garden for our dog too! .

“OVERPRICED - miserable & soulless”

Location to Combourg village/town with it's imposing stunning chateau above the hotel. The beautiful manmade fishing lake view from the hotel not our room I might add.  The difference species of wildlife spotted during our stay. The proximity to nearby Dinan, Saint Malo and Dinard coast. Nearby Campsite, & mobile lodges to stay at.  Quietness.  Plenty of amenities all within walking distance of the hotel The variety of bird song from our open window every morning quite loud as all competing with each other. It was like I had my own alarm clock.  Large window to open Room at rear of the building so didn't get overly hot Our room was cleaned unexpectedly day 2. Fan in wardrobe. Check out is 11 am although we didn't take advantage of the option One of the reception staff understands English and speak it quite well which is helpful.

Location was excellent. The bathroom was large and well equipped.

Nice welcome by efficient staff. New owners since I last stayed a month ago, and they are delightful, really welcoming bringing a great new energy to the hotel. Lovely room, comfortable bed, view of lake. Good breakfast with lots of choice.

I have always liked this hotel but not visited for some years. Just as good as I remember: great welcome, large comfortable room, excellent breakfast. The location is perfect, with lake views and proximity to the chateau.

“Disappointed”

Great location sadly ruined by 1.30 am bar across the road and ridiculous noise . Room was so bland it beggars belief , not a painting , nothing . Food was excellent value , but sadly 2nd floor no lift , up a tight staircase not great .

Nice restaurant. Garden potentially beautiful. This garden area, if developed, would be a huge attraction. (See below)

The sraff and the food were exceptional except that breakfast was a little on the basic side.

We booked a junior suite. Very spacious. Previously we have stayed in a smaller room which was not so good. The restaurant is very pleasant and the service good. A typical old style menu which we liked.

Staff were pleasant. It was very quiet in good location. Room was comfortable.
