Appalling service but not staff’s fault. Management must have known full but had very few staff working. Waited over 4hrs for a problem to be fixed. Breakfast staff overrun and unable to deal with demand. Furniture broken room not very clean and both partner and I ended up with loads of bites after spending one night. Definitely not 4 star rating - probably 1

“The quality of this hotel has gone downhill fast”

I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding my current 6-night stay. As a loyal guest who visits The Academy Hotel three times a year, I am shocked by the unacceptable decline in service and standards I have experienced this time. Failure of Communication: I was not informed at check-in that housekeeping occurs only every 3 days. This lack of transparency meant my room was left with overflowing trash for the first three days. Service Failures & Dishonesty: When I specifically requested cleaning on Day 2, the request was ignored. Furthermore, we requested fresh towels to be sent to the room and the Front Desk falsely claimed a “Do Not Disturb” sign was on my door. Later, I was told that requested towels were left in the hallway—an unhygienic and unprofessional practice. Inadequate Facilities: I had to repeatedly visit the Front Desk myself to retrieve basic amenities like coffee and cups. On one occasion, I was even told there were no disposable cups and was sent to search for them myself in the restaurant. Significant Hygiene & Health Concerns: This is my most serious concern. The "clean" plates and mugs in the breakfast area, had visible food residue and fingerprints. As a health code violation, this is completely unacceptable and unsafe. Unusable Internet: The Wi-Fi has been practically non-existent and unreliable throughout my stay, making it impossible to attend to basic needs. Ineffective Compensation: I was offered "free omelet vouchers" as a gesture of goodwill, only to realize that the omelet station had returned to being free for all guests. Offering a "gift" that is already a standard free amenity is insulting to a loyal customer. Finally I write to the hotel management for a price reduction given the issues we encountered and they didn’t even bother to reply 😂

The location is perfect – close to Denver and surrounded by endless hiking trails, which was ideal for us. The breakfast was outstanding – definitely one of the best we’ve had at a hotel. Our kids especially loved the indoor pool, which made the stay even more enjoyable. Great value for the money with very reasonable rates. We would definitely stay here again!
