The property was in a very quiet are and was spotlessly clean. It’s more of an apartment than bedroom with very good aircon. Wasantha and his team made us feel very welcome and we had excellent breakfasts and dinners at the property. We loved our stay at the Manor.

“Beautiful apartment with exceptional hosts”

This is one of the most fabulous places we have ever stayed. The apartment itself is huge, there’s a living room, kitchen, spacious bedroom and bathroom. Everything was spotless. There was no damp or mould, good quality sheets and towels. The place is super secure behind locked gates. Anything we needed was taken care of from arranging a tuk tuk tour to advice on taxis. The staff here are exceptional. Ruwan has to be one of the best hosts we have been lucky enough to meet. I messaged him before our arrival to ask if he could advise us how to get tickets for the England v Sri Lanka cricket game. He messaged me back really quickly to tell me he had bought us 2 tickets for the match. We couldn’t have asked for more here. Ruwan and the lovely cleaning lady made us feel at home. We had great fun playing with the cute cats on site. I couldn’t recommend this place more. We felt so looked after and were a little sorry to be leaving. Thank you so much Ruwan for everything you really helped make our trip so special.

“Fabulous stay”

Great family managing the accommodation, clear and concise communication before, during and after the stay. A large apartment in a quiet area close to the train station and cricket ground. Very well equipped- everything was thought of. Lovely breakfast the next day (additional cost) - enough food to feed an army! Delightful family managing the property.

“Fantastic place with an incredible host”

This is a perfect accomodation. The apartment is more like a house, with big living room and big bedroom. Inside there is everything you need, even a big working desk (what a luxury) and everything is flawless. Wasantha, the host, couldn't be nicer. He waited for me on arrival and is a gem of a person. The manor is just a short drive from the city center and is truly an oasis for a traveller. I wish I could have stayed longer and hope to return one day. On my trip through Asia, this was one of my best stays. 1000% recommended!

Our first stay in Sri Lanka was at The Manor 1926. It was a truly lovely experience. The host, Ruwan, was incredibly kind and welcoming. We enjoyed wonderful conversations over a cup of tea and he cooked us an excellent dinner. We felt very comfortable and warmly received. We can highly recommend this place.

Our stay at the Manor was exceptional! Highly recommend! The apartment was Huge and stocked with everything we could possibly need! Very clean and very comfortable. Our host Wasantha was amazing and looked after us like we were family. He is also an excellent cook and served the most incredible Sri Lankan delights. The location was perfect ~ Just a short tuk tuk ride into the city that cost less than $3. We wished we had stayed longer! A huge 10 out of 10 !

We leave The Manor 1926 with a sense of melancholy, because the wonderful hospitality has touched our hearts. The apartment is great, has a fully equipped kitchenette, plenty of space in the living room, a comfortable bed and a new, beautifully tiled bathroom with all the toiletries you need. The garden, where we had breakfast and dinner every day, is very peaceful, romantic and an oasis in bustling Colombo. Particularly noteworthy is the fantastic food that was prepared for us in the evening and in the morning. Everything Sri Lanka has to offer in terms of spices and culinary art is prepared with the highest quality products fresh from the market and with a lot of love and care. We were surprised every day and can only recommend that all guests do the same. This is only surpassed by the warm attention we received from Ruwan Wasantha, Nadija and Latha. This is 5-star service paired with family-like attention, which has a very keen sense of the guests' needs without ever being intrusive. As I said at the beginning, we are leaving with a heavy heart, but if we ever return to Colombo, we know where we will be staying.

For us everything was perfect. It was so easy to communicate prior to our stay using whatsapp making our arrival seamless. We were delighted with the comfortable colonial accommodation with its tasteful selection of antique furniture. Everything was clean and thoughtfully provided for our comfort. Our host, Ruwan and his staff made sure that we had everything we needed and we can't recommend them highly enough. Having stayed at booking .com properties all over the world for many years the accommodation and staff are up there at the highest level. The authentic sri lankan dishes provided for the hreakfast and dinner options exceeded our expectations and showed our host and his team to be talented cooks. We loved our stay here so much that we cancelled our final nights stay in columbo at another hotel in order to return here.

The property is extremely spacious, having a kitchenette and a huge front room was lovely; the bedroom was also much larger than most hotel rooms. I was working locally, so the location was excellent for me. It is a little out of the centre, so that would depend on what you want, but it does mean it is a little quieter. Previous reviews have mentioned the building works next to the property, but they are 99% finished now, so they will probably not affect any future visitors. It is not really a hotel, you have your own keys to the property and your own front door, the manager is always available and happy to help in any way, and the room is cleaned for you.

Despite being conveniently located near the city center—just about 1.1 miles from Colombo Town Hall and 1.2 miles from Maradana Train Station—it feels like a peaceful retreat. The lush garden, complete with a pond and vibrant fish, offers a serene escape from the city's hustle and bustle.​ My room was impeccably clean and adorned with antique furniture that added to the historic ambiance of the place. The amenities, including free Wi-Fi, a satellite flat-screen TV, a washing machine, and a fully equipped kitchenette with a microwave and toaster, provided all the comforts of home.​ The Manor 1926 is truly a hidden gem in Colombo. Whether you're visiting for business or leisure, I highly recommend this exceptional accommodation for its unique blend of history, comfort, and outstanding hospitality.

Wasantha was a great host. He helped me organise transport from the airport to the guesthouse. Very welcoming, gave good suggestions about what to do during the day, and the best places to visit. The guesthouse was clean, comfortable and welcoming. Wasantha was extremely helpful with transport on departure.

“Exceptional accommodation - 5 star apartment in a beautiful historic building in Colombo!”

This accommodation was phenomenal. I didn't expect to have a huge apartment all to myself. There is a huge living/kitchen space with everything you could need, a large bedroom and very fancy bathroom. There are lots of drinks and snacks available too for an additional fee if you like. The building itself is a restored historical building, which is very special. The host was incredibly accommodating and always ready to help. I got food delivery and he insisted on going out to pick it up for me. It is only a short tuktuk ride to the main attractions, and in a gated, quiet street. The price is extremely good for this property. I will definitely stay again!

The property was immaculately presented, spotless and very comfortable. We particularly appreciated the quality bed and bed linen. The host Wasantha is charming and very helpful. He booked tuk tuks for us, advised on places to visit and local restaurants in the area. We also enjoyed a delicious Sri Lankan dinner on our last night prepared by him and his staff. Nothing was too much trouble and our stay in Colombo would not have been the same without him.
