“A Comfortable and Charming Stay at Alakamandava – Colombo”

We had a lovely stay at Alakamandava, and would absolutely recommend it for anyone looking for a spacious, peaceful base in Colombo. The property is beautiful, large, and very well maintained, offering a comfortable retreat from the bustle of the city. From the moment we arrived—earlier than planned—the host made sure everything was ready for us. The early, impromptu check-in was handled quickly and smoothly, which we were really grateful for after travelling. The caretaker was also excellent, responding promptly to a minor issue with a toilet, which was fixed within the hour! The bedrooms are spacious and clean, with air conditioning units that made sleeping very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you might need, and the washing machine was especially appreciated after several days exploring Colombo with kids! In the evenings, we enjoyed spending time in the lovely outdoor seating area, chatting with family and relaxing. The living area, however, doesn't have air conditioning—only a fan—which made it a bit uncomfortable to sit in during the more humid parts of the day. While the villa is located a bit away from the main tourist areas, it's easy to get around using PickMe (Sri Lanka’s ride-hailing app), and we found it straightforward to arrange transport both into the city and onward to our next destination. Shops are within walking distance, and we also discovered a great little local café serving delicious curry and rice—not far from the property and definitely worth a visit. All in all, Alakamandava was a wonderful place to stay—spacious, peaceful, and well cared for, with helpful hosts and everything you need for a comfortable stay. We’d definitely stay here again when visiting Colombo.

Lovely to stay in an apartment after being in 1 hotel room, as so much room - bedroom, bathroom, washing machine, rooftop terrace. Good recommendations on places to eat and shop. Was a good 40mins away from Colombo Fort which wasn’t a problem for us as we got UBER/Pickme and was lovely to be in a residential area

It is a really cute apartment. Quite unique and very cosy. The host was super firendly and I had a really good sleep. The amenities are very modern and immpecably clean. Property is located in a quiet and nice area.

I had a wonderful stay at Alakamandava spending 4 nights here at the beginning and end of a 2 week holiday. The beautiful apartment and location is peaceful and perfect to relax and unwind after a long flight, yet a short tuk tuk ride away from Colombo City. The hosts Dharshana and Bhagya ensure that you have everything you need, and the breakfast and meal choices were superb, really enjoyed the Sri Lankan options (although I had to Google some things, and there's also Pasta and Pizza etc.. As a solo traveller I felt completely safe here, it's very homely and so many pretty terraces to sit and look over the neighbourhood. I enjoyed watching the tree Squirells, and many different birds.. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Sri Lanka.

Beautiful quaint place in the city..a private 2 bedroom apartment for ourselves. The host was there to greet us and show us around this beautiful place, complete with a kitchen, laundry area , a private garden, a terrace to lounge...the whole place was artistically and tastefully done up....we fell totally in love with it..spotlessly clean....in a quiet area... ...we just wish we could have stayed here for a few more days. The homecooked food was just divine....kudos Dharshana.....thank you for making the last day of a trip so perfect...a dream home indeed

We are delighted! You will have at your disposal: a garden with a pond, a kitchen, a living room, a bedroom with a balcony, a washing machine, an ironing board, and an observation deck. Here everything is thought out to the smallest detail, a very beautiful interior with a soul and a huge number of details in the interior. Snow-white towels, bathrobes. Lovely breakfasts, national style we liked especially ❤️ Dharshana will help with any questions, his family is absolutely helpful ! If we came in Colombo again - we will stay here for sure
