“Exceptional apartment in a historic site”

It was a very nice stay, the apartment is exceptional! It is more than worth the price and it is huge and offers so many things! We felt very welcome and had a wonderful time in Cluny. Also the recommended restaurant was very good! Despite being located at the historic center, it was mostly quiet, especially in the bedrooms and during the night.

A most unusual apartment, in a historical building dating back 900 years and decorated with love by the owner. The location is excellent, very close to the Abbey but very quiet, and the rooms are spacious and fascinating. Our hostess could not have been kinder or more attentive.

Everything about our trip was amazing. The accommodation was a one-of-a-kind residence reminiscent of a medieval castle, while at the same time being extremely spacious and comfortable. The location is in the heart of Cluny and everything in the historic town is just a few minutes’ walk away. Elisabeth and Francois were incredible hosts who consistently went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed during our stay. This was one of our favorite vacations ever in large part because of their generous hospitality. We will certainly be back and stay at Maison Romane 1136 again.

Completely unique house in the perfect location with parking outside the front door. Enormous rooms with great heating (February). The history and structure of the house is fascinating. Everything was provided and more. Not to be missed.

“Historical gem of a property”

The hosts were exceptional, very helpful and friendly. We were welcomed with a chilled carafe of wine, which after a long journey was just what we needed. The breakfast and pastries were wonderful. We spent two nights at Maison Romane and the facilities were comfortable and very clean. If we are lucky enough to visit Cluny in the future we will most definitely stay at Maison Romane again.

This is by far the best place I stayed at , save for my own home! I did not want to leave. Beautifully furnished and equipped. Fantastic hosts and fellow old properties renovators. The medieval house is renovated with huge sensitivity to the original and furnished with quirky wonderful pieces. Please don’t book there (too often!) because I really want to be able to go back !

The location is AMAZING. If you are looking for a medieval atmosphere, it is THE place. The room is large and quiet, walking on the floor tiles is an experience and the bathroom sink in encased within an ancient chest!!! Moreover, the owner gave us an extraordinary welcome!

Superb apartment in the heart of Cluny with all the facilities we needed, very near shops and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Maison Romane 1136 which is probably one of the most fascinating places we have ever stayed. The living room/kitchen was spacious with lots of space for cooking, eating and relaxing. The bedroom was incredible with even more space and couches to relax where you could get a sense of how royalty would have lived! Our host was very helpful in terms of explaining various aspects of the apartment and access, as well as providing storage for our bicycles.
