“A great place to unwind!”

A wonderful place to stay to get away from it all! No wifi/internet/TV or social media. A great place to rest, relax and unwind.

We had a lovely time at Oudrift! Be sure NOT to use the route by Booking.com, but rather the map communicated by the owners. It a beautiful place. No power, no signal, but all is so organised and comfortable, you really WANT to be off the grid.. Unfortunately the river was dry when we were there, although there are plenty of swimming spots close by the chalets. It's relly pretty. Food for your soul! All the guests eat meals together at the main lodge, we met some amazing people, all sharing their own life stories while sharing food around the table. Well done Bill and Jeanine, we truly enjoyed our stay!

Cosy, well-decorated cottage with mountain & river view, delicious healthy meals and breathtaking nature to explore!

The cottages are very clean and comfortable, it is a great place to switch off and enjoy the surroundings. Janine makes delicious meals and Bills knowledge of the area makes this place feel very special!

“Off the grid and great quiet and reflective time with great food.”

We liked that it was completely off the grid. Great to have quiet time to reflect and become more grounded. The food was exceptional although more vegetarian inclined. The hosts were excellent.

Very relaxing stay in a super remote area, perfect for a digital detox and finding back to oneself. The hosts and their pets are lovely and the concept of eating all together is nice because you have the chance to get to know very interesting people. The food was outstanding and the huts were beautiful and well thought out.

What a wonderful place to come and enjoy nature, exceptional food, and wonderful people - it is a hidden gem! Nature walks, swim in the river, food from "master chefs", and wonderful hosts. Cannot wait to come back.

Bill and Jeanine are excellent hosts, they spoil you with fantastic food and great company. Their farm is remote on the Doring River allowing you to get away from it all leaving the hassles of city life behind. Trail running and gravel biking paradise! Flower season must be a special time.

“It is a retreat. Just wonderful.”

The clue is in the name. A total retreat. An escape. Bill and Jeanine have created a paradise. The chalets were beautiful. The staff were friendly. The food was out of this world. They are such good cooks. The highlights were the vegetables cooked over the open fire. Fire roasted cauliflower and beetroot. Mushroom cooked with peanut butter. The meat was beautifully cooked but the star of the show was the veggies. That being said, it was all wonderful. The work they do in rescuing animals and their love for the area stands out. Their pets made the stay even better. To see such wonderfully peaceful and happy animals speaks volumes when you know they’re all rescues.

“Unforgettable”

We loved how quiet it was. The most amazing place to switch off and relax. Jeanine gave us a walking tour of the rock art one morning which will be an unforgettable experience. The food was the best we had in South Africa, Jeanine makes the most incredible food, she’s a magician in the kitchen. Bill and Jeanine were great hosts and made us feel right at home. We had a beautiful clear sky one night and saw so many shooting stars.

Bliss - totally off-grid and no sounds other than nature. Fantastic pre-breakfast walks with introduction to the local plants, animals and history. Excellent food. Bill and Jeanine make you very welcome and at home (along with the assorted rescue animals!).

Wonderful remote location, away from any city noise and bustle. Because of the heavy rainfalls this year, the river was quite full and the spring flowers splendid. The night sky is magnificent, with no light pollution nearby. Overall a wonderful place to stay.
