We loved our stay at Il Rifugio del Monaco. It is a very pleasant, peaceful stay, set in rambling gardens in a beautiful part of Cividale. The modern facilities are very tastefully appointed, very much in keeping with the aesthetics of the buildings. Germans was a throve of information about the history of the cloister.

Favorite stay of our entire Italy roadtrip. Very friendly host, easy to communicate with in English, great breakfast and amazing location in an old monastery. The picture attached was taken in the huge garden behind the hotel.

Germana is a wonderful host, and Il Rifugio del Monaco is the perfect place to stay for a visit to the beautiful town of Cividale del Friuli. The property is located within a lovely expansive garden and is an easy walk into town across the picturesque Devils Bridge. We had a great night's sleep, and the bed was very comfortable. Germana prepared a delicious breakfast in the morning, which was the perfect end to a fabulous stay. We look forward to returning one day.

“Wonderful, relaxing”

It's a sanctuary, a place of serenity. Beautiful garden, tasteful interior, well located in the outskirts of Cividale. The room and bathroom was very clean and spacious. Germana is a wonderful host, very kind. Always inquired about how we spent our days, gave tips for our plans. She speaks English very well. Breakfast was delicious, filling, many options to choose from (various pastries, ham, cheese, jams, yogurt, granola, cookies, fruit plate) with a strong but smooth coffee. We hope to return someday.

“Friendly, homely vibe”

The owner was very friendly, speaks perfect English. She was happy to recommend places to visit and was generally very helpful. The room and the kitchen/ dining area were clean and tidy. Breakfast was awesome as well. The accommodation is close to town, about 20 minutes by foot.

Absolutely gorgeous place and location rich in history. All mod cons. Beautifully decorated room in medieval style. Original 12th century building but beautifully refurbished. We were only sorry we were only there for a quick one night stay, so we did not get to enjoy the gardens and museum at the venue. We hope to return. Host Germana was warm and accommodating. Free parking. Easy reach of Cividale del Fruili by car just a 5 min drive. Lovely breakfast with generous fruit salad. Very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful kitchen area with a fridge guests can use. Generous toileteries and extras, eg. toothbrush if you need them. Inside more like a hotel than a monastery! They were very relaxed about check in and check out times since we were running late arriving and leaving.

Very special location, part of the church being restored by the owner is now the guest house. The atmosphere is fantastic. The host is very friendly and told us the immensely interesting history of the place. There were only two of us staying in the "refugio" that night, but we had a wonderful hearty breakfast. The guesthouse is in a quiet part of town, but a short walk took us easily into the city centre. Cividale del Fruili is well worth the walk. There is a good restaurant nearby.

Germana is a great host. She gave us a lot of information about the history of this place and tips on what we must visit in Italy. The house is wonderful, we feel the spirit of old times in it, everything decorated with respect to the historical things, beautiful and quiet garden. Excellent breakfast, cleanliness, I rate our stay at 200%

The location in a medieval monastery was amazing!!. Our host was so friendly and happy to answer all my many questions about the history of the building and old church currently being restored. We had the use of bicycles to go to Cividale del Friuli. The room was modern and very comfortable. We had a lovely breakfast.
