“Special oasis in spectacular Cividale del Fruili”

For more than a week in April, 2024, we were fortunate enough to stay at the Apartment Casa Monte Nero in Cividale del Friuli. The rental is clean, quiet, and very convenient, with three comfortable bedrooms, two large bathrooms, a fully-equipped kitchen, and dining area/TV room. This light-filled apartment offered outstanding views of Cividale's skyline of medieval towers from several spacious balconies. We also appreciated the private gated parking, close proximity to a Eurospar market and friendly neighborhood dogs. Our hosts Barbara and Max were charming, friendly, helpful, attentive to our questions and very, very knowledgeable about local history and attractions. Cividale is friendly, quiet, and completely “walkable”: it features a remarkable array of Roman period, Early Christian, and Medieval structures and attractions, excellent bakeries and restaurants, and the spectacular Devil's Bridge, suspended on the Natisone River, all within a few minutes stroll from our rental. We explored by car the neighboring towns and cities of Palmanova, Udine, Alquilea, and even made forays over the international border into lightly-populated Slovenia, always happy to return to our Cividale sanctuary. We could not have chosen a better place to stay in this wonderful part of Italy than the Apartment Casa Monte Nero.
