“A happy oasis after a long day's travel”

We stayed here 5 times now and will definitely stay again Jean- François is very welcoming and does everything he can to make your stay a happy experience nothing is.too much trouble. It's like visiting a friend. We look forward to our next trip which we hope will be in the autumn.

“Wonderful host and beautiful country house”

I stayed here with my husband on the first and last nights of our holiday in the Charente. It is a beautiful country house, with attractive and extremely comfortable bedrooms and a wonderful host. Jean-Francois is welcoming, great company and a fantastic cook. The house is 5 minutes from the A28 and a very convenient stop over for longer trips. The table d'hote was amazing, i'm so glad we decided to eat here. We will definitely be back.

Jean-François is an attentive, careful and nice host. He makes an amazing place something even better, and his homemade cooking is fantastic.

“Pure excellence”

Everything ! The host was just brilliant. He is a professional chef and the evening meal he cooked was fantastic. We were served 8 courses over a period of hours. We were constantly enthralled by the wit and humour of our excellent host. To sum up, I eat a wonderful meal while being entertained by Jean Francois who created an atmosphere of fun among the nine lucky guests.

Just off the motorway, the Domaine de Thomins is an oasis of calm and friendliness. Jean-Francois is a thoughtful host who made us feel very welcome - along with our old car (he has one himself). The multi-course Normandy-inspired dinner was exceptional - and was the highlight of our holiday. It was so good that we booked a return visit on our way back, and once again Jean-Francois produced an outstanding meal (that he made sure was different from our first stay).

“Gastronomy and peaceful surroundings”

Jean-François clearly enjoys welcoming his guests and pulls out all the stops to ensure they're comfortable and - above all - well fed! Breakfast is outstanding and don't hesitate to take advantage of the table d'hôte (supplement) in the evening, you won't regret it. Sipping an aperitif or a tea in front of the open fire is a great way of relaxing. The imposing pre-war house boasting many of its original features is set in its jardin à la française, with views over the surrounding countryside. Its off-the-road situation and comfortable beds ensure a restful night's sleep.

I almost don't want to say how wonderful this place is as don't want to find it fully booked when I next want to stop over! It was an absolute delight to stay here and based on other reviews which we read, we decided to book the dinner. It was a truly memorable evening from the drinks and hors d'oeuvres served on the terrace to the meal itself. The owner/host is also the chef and he describes his cooking as simple home made, which it is, but also plentiful (5 courses!) and delicious. And so nice for all guests to be seated at the same table. Jean-Francois' communication in advance is excellent with tips and links also sent on other places to visit in the area. Thank you so much Jean-Francois and we wish you much future success.

“Absolutely stunning”

This place is an absolute gem. It is family owned and is very fitting with the period of build (1930)- The grounds are stunning and the terrace which overlooks the garden is perfect.- the furniture is really in taste with the building - As for the host Jean Francois, a charismatic and humorous individual who clearly has a mind for making his guests so welcome- his cookery skills are exemplary! It was simply fantastic!! And not to mention good value for money

Jean Francois is a brillant host. Bilingual and full of stories. His cooking is fantastic using local produce. The house is typical of that period and so well decorated. Location is just a few minutes off the motorway so a perfect overnight stop.
