The owner is super nice, feels like you're staying at her house. She cooks great food, very flexible with breakfast time. The facilities are clean and beautiful, the views are stunning.

“Excellent, would love to have stayed longer”

Lovely location on the edge of gorge. Very friendly staff. The sauna was so good after a long day of walking. Food was excellent and plentiful and the beds were the most comfortable I have slept in in Ecuador

Great place to stay! I loved the living room and the fireplace. The gardens around the place are also super relaxing. The owner is super kind and very welcoming. The food was tasty, and a very nice lunch package was provided for a reasonable price.

Vito is a great host and took the time to explain us the next stops on the hike. Dinner was included and it was tasty! Perfect stay on our Quilotoa loop experience! :)

What a lovely and welcoming family. On our departure day when we asked about dogs on the last section of the Quilotoa Loop, the gentleman really went out of his way to find us 2 really good sticks to fight them off if needs be (turned out there were none... but AllTrails reviews suggested there was, and he could sense our apprehension.) They had a lovely fire going to keep the place warm. Dinner was delicious, and they were happy to top us up (we'd heard from other travellers who'd stayed elsewhere that portions had been small, so this was very welcomed) and we were able to buy a reasonably priced, tasty packed lunch to take with us on the trail. The room was cosy, lovely view from the communal balcony and it was nice to be at that end of towen getting a head start on everyone else the next day. We highly recommend staying here.

“Great location with friendly hosts”

Very nice welcome by the friendly hosts who took good care of us. Large room, hot shower, good food. The view of the canyon is amazing.

Owners worked very hard to satisfy us, food was excellent, rooms were large, lots of blankets and a nice countryside smell. You get so much more for such a small price. We had a nice steam bath and the view of the canyon is unique and absolutely breathtaking.

Amazing value We were trekking with four teenages Both supper and breakfast were very good and the dining room salon had a nice fire so it was warm after a cold wet walk Really amazing value Our room wasn t heated but because of wood burners on floor below didn t feel really damp The food here is much better than overpriced BSI located in the same town Highly recommend

“A great place to stop in Chugchilan”

Really enjoyed the stay at Hostal el Vaquero. The room was big and the bed comfortable, the staff were all really friendly and welcoming, and the food was good. Great value for money and would definitely recommend to anyone doing the Quilotoa loop.

Family run business, very nice people, very good location, good food, facilities, friendly dogs. They went above and beyond to make us feel good. Great views from the room.

The hostel is in a great location for the Quilotoa loop and it was clean and good value. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

The sauna and steam room were a nice bonus despite the facilities being pretty basic but that is reflected in the price.

Nice food, friendly staff, really cheap drinks and snacks etc, perfectly situated for the Sigchos to Quilotoa hike.

The place is really Nice we liked a lot, unluckly we cannot review the sauna because we arrived late and we didn't have it. The Owner was really friendly and helpful, we talked a lot after dinner and we have a really interesting conversation Good Dinner and breakfast. Free water and tea. The owner prepeared us a lunch box for just 3.5$ for the day after for our hike.

The Vaquero lodge offers better views and tranquility than others in the village due to its location. The room was comfortable and the shower was hot. The hammocks outside the room were nice. The family that runs it is generous and kind.

“Excellent stay”

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all excellent! The heating in the shared space was also a great relief from the cold.
