“Fantastic meal. Modern hot springs”

Should I call it a modern ryokan? Or a ryokan-style hotel? The name doesn't matter. It is a hotel you simply must experience. Comfortable furniture and space, quiet public areas, and above all, a fantastic buffet. I recommend the buffet over the kaiseki here. It is fantastic. Even the breakfast is excellent. Since my stay was short—just one night—I couldn't experience everything the hotel had to offer, but it was a wonderful hotel.

Next to Lake Shikotsu. We went in between seasons so not a lot of shops around the area was open. But there was still lots to do. We loved the onsen and the staff were nice and helpful. We were offered coupons to enjoy a free drink or dessert from Sweets Shop Patissier Lab (which is on site). Our time at Lake Shikotsu Tsuruga Resort Spa Mizu no Uta was peaceful and relaxing

“Nice getaway place”

The room is very spacious and the onsen is great. Most of the staff are very warm-hearted. We waited only a little while for breakfast buffet but quite a bit for dinner. Having said that the staffs informed us once table was available.

Our stay was nothing short of a a six-star experience. From the moment we arrived, the level of service was impeccable. We were welcomed with genuine warmth and made to feel completely at ease. Check-in was seamless, setting the tone for what would be an exceptional stay. The property itself is stunning, with beautifully maintained facilities that invite you to relax and unwind. Our room exceeded every expectation. A spacious ground-floor suite featuring a private Onsen, two incredibly comfortable beds, and a generous living area complete with a massage chair—an indulgence we didn’t realise we needed until we had it. An unexpected touch was the thoughtfully curated wardrobe, filled with robes and gowns not only for use in the room, but also suitable for dinner and the spa. This was a unique and delightful experience that added to the sense of immersion and luxury. The dining experience was equally outstanding. The multi-course kaiseki dinner was a true highlight—beautifully presented and thoughtfully curated, it introduced us to a range of traditional Japanese dishes we had never encountered before. Each course felt like a work of art, both in flavour and presentation, offering a genuine sense of place and culture. Breakfast was just as impressive, with a generous buffet that balanced traditional Japanese options alongside familiar Western dishes, ensuring there was something to suit every palate. It was the perfect way to start the day. Every detail felt carefully considered, and the overall experience was simply unforgettable.

“A nice and relaxing stay close to the annual Ice Festival venue”

The room is spacious, clean, and comfortable. The en-suite outdoor bath is nice. So are the two massage chairs. The breakfast and dinner at the buffet restaurant are good too. The location close to the annual Ice Festival and the many local amenities is the most assuring. The staff is courteous.

Lovely helpful staff, fantastic location and the chefs in the restaurant were unreal, the buffet dinner was superb and breakfast again amazing. Beautiful well appointed resort that we were lucky to have a night at. Highly recommend this as a place to stay.

Great facilities and excellent dining experience. Very courteous and efficient staff.

Overall the service is excellent. The place and food is better than expected. The staff were extremely dedicated to their work and we couldn't ask for more.

This has been my best Hotel experience of my life so far and I think it will be hard to beat!

This is a modern, properly designed, globally articulated property with a strong local touch. The rooms were very comfortable, spacious, and well-appointed. The hotel has a good onsen onsite; the amenities and food were good, with a very well-organized team of staff, courteous and efficient.

Location was amazing Rooms were very nice, each night staff prepared futons for our daughters Breakfast and dinner were excellent Marshmallows were a hit with our children

“Wonderful place to rejuvenate”

Both the kaiseki dinner and buffet breakfast were excellent and the staff were attentive despite the language barrier. The private bath in our terrace is a wonderful option for those who feel uncomfortable in the public baths. We really wished we could have stayed another night to explore Lake Shikotsu.

Good location

Location, right on the banks of Lake Shikotsu, absolutely beautiful views Dinner was spectacular, no need to order ala carte items as the set dinner was way too much food, dishes (other than the sashimi) were different for all 3 nights that we dined there, quality cannot be matched Rooms were really comfortable, they have a pillow shop where you can try out and switch pillows according to your own preference Private onsen was amazing, being able to walk out and have a long soak in the cold air with absolute privacy was heavenly

Everything ; this property is probably top 5 of the hotels we have ever stayed in . The room / the food and the service was on another level. Thank you for hosting us / you were our first impression on Japan and we were glad you were. Location next to the lake was breathtaking . Onsens were just an added bonus.
