“Pleasant Accommodation with wonderful staff”

Lovely clean rooms and hosts are fantastic and always happy to help. The beach is beautiful and still lovely for swimming in the morning. Food was nice.

Cozy hotel in a fishing village. We were treated wonderfully. Really like to come back again!

We had a hectic two week tour of Sri Lanka and really appreciated spending our last two nights in peace and quiet at Spice of Ceylon. It's a beautiful little seaside hotel in a laid back fishing town - the perfect setting to relax and escape the busyness of the rest of the country. We appreciated that they had a pool as we found the ocean a bit too rough for easy swimming. All the food we ate there was delicious and fresh. The hosts were lovely and helpful and their staff were all so friendly. We really enjoyed talking with them.

Beautiful , spacious accommodation with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Elisabeth , Max and team are really welcoming and create a relaxed atmosphere. They kindly lent us bikes so that we could explore the local area. The sunsets from the balcony are incredible. We enjoyed dinner at the property on both nights of our stay. Would definitely recommend.

Proximity to the sea was great but being so far out of town limited exploration of the area. Cool, breezy hotel, it was nice not to have to use A/C fHosts were very friendly and welcoming. Balcony overlooking gardens and sea was delightful.

A delightful small hotel in a quiet fishing village. Spacious rooms with a sea view. There are no restaurants nearby but the food at the hotel was very good. All of the staff were good and Elizabeth and Max could not have been more helpful.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Large room overlooking the sea with a fridge, efficient ac and comfortable bed. Lovely swimming pool. Owned by a Swedish couple who were delightful . Good value.

“A nice retreat with very little to do while you enjoy the garden, beach and space.”

If you want to chill out with very little to do, this is a great place. Lovely owners and staff, garden and pool. Beech just the other side of the road with lots of friendly fisherman. About a 10 minute ride to Chilaw town where you have a choice of restaurants etc.

“A perfect stop on my cycle tour, fantastic place to stay”

A very special place to stay. I booked for one night, ended up staying for three and would happily have stayed longer. The area is quiet, but the guesthouse is perfect. It feels a bit like staying in someone’s lovely home. The perfect combination of feeling relaxed but also being very well run and efficient. Everyone there was so lovely and helpful. The food is also delicious. The pool is nice and it is just a great place to hang out and relax. I hope to go back. Highly recommended!

“Chilled, comfortable 3 night stay in a lovely environment”

Friendly and helpful staff. Easy access to sea swimming as well as the lovely pool. We borrowed bikes to explore the local villages.

“Very relaxing.”

Worth a visit just to chill and break the journey to Wilpattu for us. Stayed two lovely nights overlooking the ocean, caught up with out admin and laundry. Nice pool. Yes you can swim off their beach over the road. Talk to Max. Bikes available Hosts Max and Elizabeth are very helpful and run a lovely and very relaxed small hotel. Nishanta and all the staff are also extremely helpful. The food is good value and tasty.

“Great place to relax and explore”

We stayed for one night but next time we’ll manage to stay more. The property is very nice & Elizabeth and the staff are always available to make you feel cared. The room was cozy, spacious and well designed. Special mention for the kitchen: delicious dishes and authentic Ceylon’s experience. Well definitely come back. The garden is also beautiful and you can go to the beach, which is just in front of the house.

Wonderful place. Well run with the staff very well looked after. Grand room for a bedroom.😀 Beach is close walk down to get shade. Food was great with lots of variety.

“We loved our stay here, it was a wonderful way to end our holiday”

We booked to stay for three nights but loved it so much we stayed for a week. It’s in a lovely quiet location, very close to the beach. The rooms are huge with comfortable beds and the food was amazing. We were so sad to leave. Definitely recommend.

A beautiful house ,spacious rooms, beautifully furnished. The owners and staff were so welcoming and friendly. Good food cooked in house. The atmosphere is one of peace and quiet. There is a nice pool, but it is possible to swim in the sea the otherwise of the road. Lovely place

This place is a hidden gem. Spacious rooms, beautifully decorated ans a comfy huge bed. The pool is lovely and the grounds and then you have the sea, right there. Elizabeth and her team go out of their way to meet your every need and dinner was great.

“Serene stay”

This place is right across the beach, it is quiet. Upon our arrival, we received a heartfelt welcome by it's generous hosts. Our room was beautiful, so spacious, clean and comfortable. We had dinner in the main guests room and litteraly wolfed down the succulent rice & curry.
