A short walk from the Seibu-Chichibu station. Close by to convenience store where you can get your favourite snacks. The ryokan has private bath which we enjoyed very much. The place is very clean and the tatami room smells great. Change of clean bathing sets daily complete with socks, towels and essentials. The building structure and setting is unique. We opt for the breakfast and the food is great.

The owner was very sweet and helpful! The ryokan was very modern and clean while still maintaining the traditional look and feeling. The futons were also surprisingly soft and comfortable. We can warmly recommend.

“A lovely easy stay”

I loved this ryokan. The host, Maekawa went above and beyond to explain the ryokan facilities on my arrival. The room was beautiful and comfortable. Since it was cold, there were two quilts provided and the futon was great to sleep on. The common sink area was out of this world and very space age! Had two baths and they were wonderful. The breakfast in the morning was beautifully presented and very delicious. I was very impressed with the Akari Noguchi lamps in the dining room and common area.

We had a very good stay at Ryokan Hiyoshi. The room was great and the beds were super comfy. There was a well-lit powder room in the corridor as well as Dyson hairdryer in the room. It was ok walking distance to the train station. And the Japanese breakfast was really an experience. The onsen was great and the staff really made us feel welcome!

Everything was PERFECT! :D The hosts were so kind and helpful :D The rooms are confortable and beautiful. The view is amazing too (from ours we could see a small jinja in the garden). The private onsen is great! It is possible to use it from afternoon to 9:00 am. The breakfast is DIVINE. I do recommend booking the breakfast option as well. It is one of the best foods we had in Japan (and we have been living here for more than 3 years) :D. Now we are finding excuses to come back Chichibu again :D.

The host is extremely friendly & spoke good English. The place Is warmly decorated & clean. The breakfast is normal but delicious. My room has private toilet. So very convenient. There is a beautifully renovated dressing room for drying hair & made up at the onsen area. But I did not used it because it was occupied. Very pleasant stay.

This place is a hidden gem. Amazing, traditional Japanese breakfast - don’t skip out on this. Rooms were very comfortable and well sized. Amenities great. The whole atmosphere was perfect; a blend of traditional with modern touches, peaceful and the onsens were lovely. Highly recommend.

This is a modernised ryokan offering excellent value and an artistic touch. My room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was spectacular – full of home-made goodness. (But don't order it if you are not up for a traditional Japanese breakfast of grilled fish, etc.)

My friend and I enjoyed our stay a lot. Perfect atmosphere in a calm and clean accomodation to start the day before finishing it with a nice bath in the private oncen. Rooms are as described with a lot of space and everything you need (like sanitary accessoires, Internet, TV, place to sit and eat, fridge etc.). If you're looking for a Ryokan to stay this is the place. The host is very friendly and also a great help regarding recommendations in Chichibu.

Wonderful host and staff, they always made sure we were comfortable. Even gave recommendations about what to do in the area! Breakfast was amazing, we were able to select different kind of fish each morning. The baths are amazing also and the rooms are clean. Great service in english as well as japanese. The ryokan is very peaceful!

I really like Maekawa’s hospitality! Enjoyed my stay with my gf throughout, the onzen bath was really really cool & nice to have since Chichibu is freezing cold during winter. We get to wear the traditional Nemaki after the bath too.

Super friendly host. He has a lot of great recommendations. Facilities are modern that mix well witn the traditional feel of a ryokan. Will definitely return in the future.
