This guest house nestled in the mountains is a wonderful break away from the cities. The windows slide open to reveal a stunning view of the mountains and river from your room, if you're lucky to get a corner room. The room I had was big and spacious and had access to my own toilet but was down a set of steep stairs. The shower room is shared and is available between 4-10pm. The meals cooked by the hosts were simple, delicious and filling and I enjoyed talking to the other guests in the common area while eating. You can choose between having your meals in the common area or in your room. They also accommodated my food allergies. For this, I emailed Hajime san ahead of booking. As it's an old house and next to the road, you will hear cars so if you're sensitive to noise, bring earplugs. But this also makes it easy to access from Seibu-Chichibu station by bus, with the bus stop only a couple of minutes walk away. Staying here was a highlight of my trip to Japan, and I would definitely come back to stay again!

This. place is a dreammmmmm. When the doors slid open to the view in my little corner room I was blown away. It was cosy, intimate and serene. Shoutout to Hijame for picking me up from the station too. He couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Honestly such a treat

“Cheap, traditional Japanese room with great views”

The room was lovely and authentic with great views. The room was definitely good value for money for such a beautiful location. There was a convenience store within a 10 minute drive. The owner was helpful to show us what hikes were nearby although it rained so we were unlucky.

Peaceful location, friendly outgoing host, great authentic atmosphere. I only stayed briefly due to my plans, but it was enough to know that I would stay here again. :) thank you.

Beautiful Guesthouse right in a beautiful valley. The view from our room was just breathtaking. On top of that, the host is super friendly. Perfect for people who like a cozy stay in nature!

Super friendly host, also offers dinner and breakfast options which we booked - both super delicious, homemade food. The location is just a amazing, in the middle of nature, and wonderful, more than 100 year old traditional Japanese house. What an incredible experience! We also had a great conversation with the host during dinner, he's very likeable and takes care of the guests.

“Adventures of the Nishiki Wanderers”

If you book here, you will have an exceptional time at Nishiki. This old fashioned guesthouse will leave you feeling at home, especially under the shared Kotatsu or your own private one in your room (with a beautiful view!). The owner is very kind and showed us the icicle lights ✨️ We had loads of fun, scrambling about in the river, climbing mountains and cycling 50km in the wilderness. So many good memories and adventures. We even had an adventure that involved rescuing a dog, a local policeman who took us to Mitsumine Shrine and after dark shrine and cave explore. Highly recommend to stay here. If you like nature and a slightly eery vibe around the local village, book!

We found the location exceptional. We loved the experience of staying in an old mountain house and our room had unbeatable views. Hiking around the area was great also. We had homemade food delivered to our room everyday and it was delicious and more than enough.

This was such a magical trip getting to stay in an old inn with a beautiful view of the mountains. My soul really needed this stay and everything was fantastic. Mr. Tachikawa and his wife are very kind people. Their kindness, hospitality, and Mrs. Tachikawa’s cooking touched my heart and soul. I learned so much about the history of the Otaki village and got to meet & connect with amazing people. I will definitely be coming back to Otaki and staying at their guesthouse that felt like home.
