It was clean and very central location. I didn’t meet any stuff, but the communication through WhatsApp worked very well. WiFi worked really well

Its in quite an ideal location. Beds were comfy, good for one or two nights stay if you are in Chiayi for just few nights.

The location of the hostel is convenient, particularly close to the night market. Everything is neat and tidy and well organised. A home away from home.

“Clean and efficient stay”

Nicely renovated in an aesthetically pleasing, clean style, which however lacks a bit in coziness for the common/seating areas. The instructions for the self-check-in process are very good, but overall it feels quite anonymous here, never seeing any staff. Good location close to the night market and decent walking distance to the train station.

Very comfy and wide beds, facilities were good and centric location too! There is no staff so the check in process and payment is done by yourself.

“Stayed 3 nights in this hostel. Easy place to stay and chilled out.”

I was happy enough to stay here 3 nights. Not much on a first impression, but the place has a charm that grows on you. All the basics were met: large fridge for storing food, comfy bed with privacy, secure key fob for access, lockers etc. Bathroom was ok. I sort of liked that there were big windows in the downstairs area where life outside went by and you could people watch while being watched by people! Decent cheap-eat taco place in the square across. Also the invisible host left out a great free tea selection for Lunar New Years Eve! Thanks!

Tip for future backpackers is that the 8-bed dorm seemed more spacious from a glance than the 6 (which had two beds opposite each other lengthways)

“Clean and Convenient”

the room and facilities are clean, even it is a remote hostel not hard to stay. accessible to convenient stores, the location near in Wenhua Night Market and few walk to Train Station. Great value of money for a solo traveler like me..

I liked it alot, only negative was lack of ventilation

The hotel is well located, easy to find and near many restaurants, convenience stores etc. The dormitory is clean and comfortable. Also the staff / person in charge of the booking is super responsive, friendly and flexible !

We liked everything about this hostel especially that our 'roommates' were respectful and quiet - it makes all the difference!

I was surprised that it was unstaffed, but it works! Clean, tidy, considerate guests and we slept very well.

Night market is literally behind the hostel and it’s so close to TRA station which is convenient. Also if you want to go to Alishan you can get the bus easily early in the morning. Hostel itself is clean and neat, slippers and lockers provided. There is no staff on site which is actually nice if you’re introvert like me haha

“KM Hostel is a cozy home away from home with all of the modern amenities that a backpacker needs!”

KM Hostel is an unstaffed location however the staff were very communicative via Whatsapp and made me feel right at home - answering any questions about the hostel and things to do in Chiayi with excitement. The fellow travellers were very sweet, although I did not speak that much due to language barriers. I lucked out and it felt like I had a private room as there was only one bunk bed in the room - the storage units were spacious and each door had a secure lock code which made me feel very safe. All in all, the hostel felt very protective of privacy and security. One major feature is the free laundry on the fourth floor with a beautiful drying space - get ready to sweat in the Chiayi summer heat. The main transportation in Chiayi is bus, moped, or bicycle - unless you are renting a car. I would recommend renting a scooter to get around the city sites during monsoon season, especially if you are heat-sensitive. I stayed in Chiayi for 4 days and went to see Alishan via bus which was only an hour and some change away from the city center. The locals are vibrant, friendly, and there are always a lot of people outside during the evening cool.

Great place with decent kitchen, you could actually make some food because there was a stove 👏🏻 good showers, all clean and what impressed me the most: the metal lockers in the room were lined with foam so the guest wouldn’t make noise and bother other people 🤩 how thoughtful! Some people noice little things like that and that’s me 😄 I really appreciate this detail! I’ve not encountered the staff because it’s self check in place but the contact with the owner via messages was perfect ✌🏻
