Son really puts the 'Home' in homestay! She runs the place practically by herself and still found time to go above and beyond in making sure we made the most of our time in Chiang Rai. The food was delicious with the majority of the ingredients sourced straight from the garden! The place is a little out of the way from the city, but there are scooters available for hire if you're comfortable riding, or you can ask Son to recommend a driver to you. Overall this was by far the best accommodation experience I've ever had, Son was so welcoming and upbeat and we really enjoyed our time here.

A great homestay, close to Chiang Rai but far enough away that you can feel in the country. Very professionally run, made to feel part of the family

We are still overwhelmed by the hospitality we experienced during our visit. The hosts were incredibly kind and accommodating. Virtually every wish was read from our lips. It didn't matter if we wanted to rent a scooter, needed a Taxi or if it was about the choice of breakfast. Every morning we could enjoy a very delicious breakfast with homemade bread. Once we had dinner at the accommodation, which was also very tasty. The accommodation is located just outside of Chiang Rai and after getting up you look directly at the associated rice fields. Due to the quietness we slept wonderfully every night. With the scooter or taxi, you are still quickly in the city or at famous sights such as the white temple. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our hosts for their kindness, which even saw us off directly at the taxi . If we come again to Chiang Rai, we know which accommodation we book again.

“Personal welcome from a delightful hostess”

This homestay was an ideal base from which to explore Chiang Rai and the surrounding area to the North. What made it special was the involvement of the owner, Son. On two evenings she prepared a delicious evening meal at very reasonable cost of 60-70 Baht for a main dish, including beans from her garden. The room was quite basic but it had a pleasant outside terrace and adequate furniture. Good wifi and overall very reasonable at 700 baht a night. The Mae Salong Loup is a four hour drive from the homestay which I would recommend for the stunning views.
