Central location fronting a large park. Secure parking and changeable carpet in the hotel lift to tell guests what day of the week it is. Very useful. Lady piano player entertains sleepy breakfasters with sweet background music on select mornings.

Review of Hotel Bukovyna / Готель Буковина I stayed in a large suite room at Hotel Bukovyna. The hotel has good sides, but first I want to mention a few problems I experienced. There is a small bar near the reception. The lady working there also helps in the breakfast area in the morning. What caught my attention was that she took some food from the breakfast area to the bar side. Especially with the apple pastries, this was clear. Around 9:00, while guests were still having breakfast, there were only a few apple pastries left. She took them to the bar area. When I wanted to take one, there were none left, and I was told there were no more. This is not about one pastry. But while hotel guests are still having breakfast, the last remaining items should not be removed from the breakfast area. It does not look right from a guest’s point of view. Another issue was the seating area in front of the same bar. One table always had an “under reservation” sign. I thought it was reserved for hotel guests. I bought coffee from the bar and sat there. Then the lady from the bar asked me to leave. Since we could not understand each other, she called another staff member who spoke English. I asked who the place was reserved for, and I was told it was reserved for the hotel chefs. So a guest who buys coffee cannot sit there because the seats are kept for the chefs. In my opinion, this is not proper hotel service. After this, I preferred to go to Bakara Cafe, about 100 meters away, instead of using the hotel bar. There was also a problem with the night shift. I work remotely and sometimes need to work on my computer in the evening. Some night staff were respectful and did not disturb me. But one staff member came and sat directly in front of me, played videos loudly on his phone, and ignored my warnings. When I warned him again, he rudely said that the seat belonged to him and that he needed to watch TV there. A hotel employee should not argue with a guest over a seat.

The restaurant, where only a few people go, is really good. I had a nice traditional Bukovinian dish. The staff did utmost best to explain. Hotel Bykovina is the old 'Soviet' hotel of town. But they made the move to modern services while keeping some of the good things of the past. I like (some) remnants of that old Soviet times. And good value for money!
