Overview
Situated within the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg World Heritage Site, this 4-star hotel is surrounded by gardens and overlooks the Drakenberg Mountains. It includes a large pool, a restaurant and an animal farm. All rooms, suites and chalets at Champagne Castle Hotel are decorated in light colours and have a private patio. They also come with a satellite TV and tea/coffee facilities. Meals are served in Champagne’s restaurant with its wooden beams and large fans for refreshment. There is also a bar with a fireplace that opens out onto a large veranda overlooking the mountains. Massages are available at the spa and there is a casual lounge with a large TV to relax afterwards. Guests can enjoy trout fishing in the garden ponds, go horse riding or accompany children in the games room. Winterton Train Station is a 10-minute walk away. Guests can reach the Wagendrift Nature Reserve in a 1-hour drive.

The fact that the rooms do not have air-conditioned or any heating. The underfloor heating is great but does not raise ambient temperature. Staff Great Food exceptional Well done

“Always a treat!”
Once again, a great stay in the most wonderful setting. The buffet meal offering has improved noticably from when I was last there and we thoughly enjoyed every meal. We were very happy with our room which was clean, tidy spacious and well appointed. Thank you for keeping up the standard.

“Exceptional mountain retreat”
The staff service was exceptional, especially in the dining area. Beautifully appointed rooms with outstanding views of the surrounding mountains. Buffet food was a treat - so many different and delicious offerings. We also loved the cosy lounge rooms to read a book or enjoy a pre or post dinner drink. Champagne Castle offers some amazing hikes right from the property. Plus there's a pool, games room, bowling green, playground, tennis court, chess set and horse riding. So much to do in this beautiful setting.
