Overview
Porters Lodge is a family friendly oasis in the hills of the Craigieburn Valley, positioned just off the well beaten track of State Highway 73 but easily within reach of Christchurch. With a restaurant and bar serving relatable favorites, a comfortable accommodation wing and an array of activities at our doorstep we can offer you an experience with a difference to a multi-day getaway all within a stones throw of the airport. An ideal base for your next mountain biking adventure in Summer with onsite bike trails, rental bikes for children & adults, either private or public MTB shuttles to the world famous Craigieburn Valley bike trails. In Winter, you can start your skiing day at Porters Alpine Resort within a short drive from the Lodge. For non-skiers or during pre-season, enjoy yourself in our snowplay area. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff are here to make your stay memorable. Bike wash and storage facilities available and basic workshop access offered. Walkers, Hikers, Hunters, Anglers can all take advantage of our great location with many tracks leading off from the doorstep of the lodge. “Incredible location, food and night skies”
We booked this place as something a little different on our 3 week honeymoon tour of NZ. Absolutely loved this location being up in the mountains with such a friendly bunch of staff. The food was brilliant for both dinner and breakfast, and added plus of insanely clear night skies

“Amazing location, exceptional service, awesome facilities, lovely family feel, and awesome food!”
I love the welcoming feel, the staff were amazing and the food and drink absolutely stunning. I'm used to home comforts so staying in bunk beds and with shared bathrooms was not my cup of tea but despite that we had a wonderful stay and would go back again in a heart beat. What a special place!

The breakfast was abundant, and the accommodation was secluded and very quiet. If our flight isn’t delayed next time, we would love to check in earlier and experience their off-road vehicle rental. This place is a paradise for outdoor activities, but unfortunately, we only stayed as a stopover this time.

Dunny the boss he makes you feel most welcomed..... Out in the middle of nowhere about 6km from the main road. You think you're not going to get luxuries, how wrong I was. Great at night for looking at the stars.

“Unforgettable stay!”
My stay at Porters Lodge was great. It has got an amazing view and a very cute dog. I found the breakfast a bit too expensive, but other than that, everything was great!
