Overview
A Victorian mansion style establishment hosts the Ashanti Lodge Backpackers. Located close to the foot of Table Mountain, the wooden sun deck and the garden of the hostel offer views of the landscape. Accommodations include bright dormitory rooms and private rooms. Some features normal bed or iron wrought bunk beds. All have a decor with designer touch. Communal areas of the Ashanti Lodge Backpackers include an outdoor swimming pool, a travel center, and the Kumasi Café with billiard. Reception is open from 8 to 5, but live-in staff always available in to assist with after hours enquiries and/or check-ins. Free Hi-speed wifi available everywhere and computer available free of charge. Breakfast not included in room-only rate, but a la carte available in the Kumasi Cafe. Longstreet with various restaurants, day and nightlife is about a 10 minute walk away.

“It’s a good place to overnight and meet people, easy access to hangout spots.”
The bathrooms were clean , the bedroom was cozy and the sitting area (on the balcony) too, even though it was raining it was still nice to sit there and chill

Convenient and comfortable straight from an overnight flight. Taxi was pre-booked each way to/from the airport. Great for Kloof St. vibe and a short taxi ride to the Waterfront.

“Best Backpackers experience in Cpt so far”
The relaxation factor was insane! Staff were so helpful and the Volunteers made it a fun experience. Fun little social events like a braai or even a deep pool so swim in and relax from a rough/hot day. Kitchen Facilities are really good with an oven!

Deluxe Double Room
Converted from dormitory rooms these massive deluxe rooms are spacious and comfortable. The rooms have high ceilings which increase the sense of space and consist of a king size bed with a single bunk on top so they are suitable for couples, friends, or families. Each room also has a desk and chair, so they lend themselves to digital nomads who have work to do. With a digital safe, cupboard, reading light and a basin in the room these are now our most popular rooms.
Double Room with Shower
This is the only en-suite room we have in the main building and it is nestled away in our tranquil garden under the palm trees. It has a king size bed, full-service satellite TV, a digital safe, block-out floor-length curtains, strong wifi and tea/making facilities in the room and, of course, an en-suite shower room. It has its own little private outside area to have your morning coffee – and watch the city wildlife of squirrels and birds drink from water feature in the garden.
Standard Double Room
This room comes with private basin and shared bathroom. Some rooms are situated around the outdoor swimming pool. Most of these rooms are situated in the courtyard around the pool– perfect for an early morning wake up dip. The bathrooms are down the passage, but there are basins in the room for brushing of teeth and hair. A double room has a standard double bed and a twin room has two single beds… best suited for those not cuddling up at night😊. Great backpacker prices on these rooms to be part of the action.
Standard Twin Room
The twin room provides a safe deposit box and a carpeted floor, as well as a shared bathroom featuring a shower. The twin room features heating. The unit offers 2 beds.
Budget Single Room
The single room includes a shared bathroom equipped with a shower.
