“Fantastic place”

One review I read before staying at Ricefield Lodge said, ‘If in doubt just book it!’ Here is our review: ‘if in doubt, just book it!’. If you want to visit the Mekong region this is the BEST way to see it. You will stay in the Mekong guided by the experts, Martin and Vi. We did two trips, one run by Martin himself and one to Con Som Island to see and meet the local people. Like us, the other guests we met were a little unsure before they arrived but we all enjoyed it so much, became friends and want to tell you that you will have a great time there. Mosquitoes: yes, of course they are there. Martin and Vi have done so much to keep them away that I only got one tiny bite in the whole visit. Less than usual for any summer holiday anywhere! I want to write more but I don't want to tell you all the good things - I want you to discover them too. The highlights for me were Martin's story about moving to the Mekong, the relaxation, the beer fridge, the food, Martin's organisation, the trips and best of all Vi's traditional Vietnamese song. “A great way to get familiar with the Mekong Delta and the lovely local Vietnamese”

Martin and Vi were very welcoming and did everything to ensure we enjoyed our stay. To be honest, I thought I’d made a mistake when I realised we booked so far out of Can Tho, concerned there would be nothing to do. It turned out to be the best couple of days. We went on two tours organised by Martin and his team, experiencing a fish massage, a duck massage (yep that’s right) and cooking Vietnamese pancakes and more. We also went on a tour of the Mekong Delta and personally driven by Martin in his speedboat. Would highly recommend!

“Really special place - loved my three days here :)”

From the moment I arrived at Mekong Delta Ricefield Lodge, I felt a huge weight lift from my shoulders. Martin and Vi could not have done more to make me feel welcome. The peaceful location is beautiful (right on the river), and I was lucky to share my stay with some really lovely fellow guests. As others have said, Martin’s boat trip to the floating markets is a highlight and an absolute must if you’re staying here. Both Martin and Vi are very knowledgeable about the area, and you feel very well looked after during your time with them. They’re also very supportive and friendly with the local community and they do what they can to contribute positively, which was really heartening to experience. If you’re hesitating, don’t! This place is truly special. It was a highlight of my trip (and I’d visited many places and countries before arriving here). On one day I had exceptionally bad period pain, and Vi kindly made me a hot water bottle and some ginger tea—I felt so cared for. She also helped arrange for an item I’d left at my previous hotel to be sent to the lodge, which I really appreciated. I loved the breakfasts and evening suppers too—it was lovely chatting with other guests over delicious food. The meals were AMAZING, some of the best I’ve had in Vietnam! And I completely fell in love with their five adorable dogs :D

“So much to like”

So much to like. Everything has been clearly thought through, especially from environnental and cultural point of view. The cook made amazing dishes. Unfortunately I was ill for some the time so I couldn't eat so much. Once I recovered I joined the hosts and other guests for the dawn speedboat ride to the floating markets. This was unique and so apexial.

The location provides an authentic Mekong Delta experience. If you are willing to explore the local area on a bicycle (or motorbike) rich cultural exchanges and experiences can be enjoyed. The accommodation and food are outstanding. Martin, Vee and the team are welcoming and attentive.

“A fabulous stay in this remote idyll!”

It’s remoteness and the feeling of connecting with true life for Vietnamese people on the Mekong Delta. The hosts, Martin and Vee, ensure all their guests are extremely well looked after and were very informative. The speedboat trip to the floating markets was a real highlight of our time in Vietnam. Use of the free bikes is an added bonus and a great way to explore the area.

“We had a really memorable stay”

If you are up for an authentic stay far from luxury and other tourists but still close to Can Tho, this is the place. Vi and Martin are wonderful and helpful hosts who organized fantastic trips for us on the river and in the area, and made sure we made the most of our 2,5 days visit. The lodge was beautiful, the food was excellent, the pool was clean, and great bikes! Thanks to Vi and Martin for good conversations about life in Vietnam, and for caring about both people and environment.

Absolute gem of a place, that we can highly recommend. Our family including the children had a wonderful time! Fishing, cuddling with the dogs, bike rides around the village and a very special early morning boat tour. Martin and Vi are amazing hosts that will make your stay unforgettable!

“Great stay, great company and great location to get away from the rat race”

Very comfortable with air conditioning swimming pool but still in an authentic Vietnamese villiage Martin and Vee are amazing hoists and are happy to change plans according to visitors preferences and weather. Martin also supports the local community and they have a great sence of humour

“The best place we have ever stayed in the whole wide world”

This place is a small slice of paradise, but is made infinitely better by the hosts, Martin and Vi. They are both so kind, funny, and took incredible care of us, and what they have built here is inspiring. They appreciate and advocate for Vietnamese culture and people in the Mekong Delta, and as a result, offer a truly authentic and unique experience for their guests. Martin's boat tour to Can Tho Floating Market is unforgettable - beautiful, amazing food and people encountered along the way - so much more than the other tourist boats offer. On top of this, we visited local villages, schools, farms and monasteries on Martin's recommendation and using his bicycles/motorbike, and had a lovely massage too. The food was phenomenal and generous, we ate like royalty. It included fruits from their own farm - so delicious and fun to try. Whilst being a bit further out, Martin made it so easy for us to get here. Our room was clean, comfortable and cool - and importantly mosquito free! The pool was idyllic too. This is one of those places that you want to scream from the rooftops about, but also want to keep a secret. If you are visiting the Mekong Delta, do not go anywhere else! Thank you so much for everything, all the best to you both and to your lovely locals too!

“10/10 – A True Highlight of Our Vietnam Trip!”

The Mekong Delta Ricefield Lodge was definitely one of the highlights of our Vietnam journey! If you’re looking for an authentic experience of Vietnam, this is the perfect place. Peaceful rice fields, cozy bungalows, amazing food and incredibly warm hosts – Martin & Vi and their team made us feel right at home. We especially loved the unique boat trip to the floating markets and the motorbike rides, which we could easily rent from them. Martin also gave us valuable travel tips for the rest of our trip. Huge thanks – we’d love to come back one day!

“Authentic Vietnam”

At the end of our three week visit to Vietnam, we stayed two nights with Martin and Vi. It was a wonderful experience in a place where you can see the real Vietnam. The highlight was the boat tour in the early morning where we could see the life on the river. Even our four year old son had the best morning of our holiday. It’s also a great area for cycling. Really recommend going here if you are looking for an authentic place to experience Vietnam.

“Nature relaxing oasis”

Loved the location! Far out from the high pace city of Saigon but not too far from the next city of Can Tho. The entrance has this beautiful array of flowers with the gates opening up to your oasis. Inside is incredibly relaxing. A small pathway leading to several bungalows and then surprise a beautiful pool in the shade. The bungalows have a lovely decoration inside with windows and doors opening to the plants, flowers and trees. The upper stairs balcony is incredibly enjoyable to relax, read a book, have a cold drink, and be one with nature. Once you restore your energy, there are bikes to use to ride outside on the quiet street along the river or even into the local village. Also the property has access to the river and a speed boat. You can leave right from the property to check out the floating markets and get the thrill of seeing more of the river, nature and viewing the villages along it.

We loved the beautiful setting, the amazing food, the lovely staff, the cutest dogs, the early morning Mekong Delta boat trip, the day trip around the Can Tho area, cycling to the village and meeting friendly locals, relaxing in the pool - and Martin’s unique hospitality.
