I had an amazing stay at Camotes Hostel Resort! The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating from start to finish. For a very reasonable price, you get a comfortable stay that includes a free breakfast. ​The highlights for me were the stunning mural painting by the pool—it gives the whole place such a cool, boho-aesthetic vibe—and the fact that guests are free to use the kitchen. It’s only a 10-minute walk to the calm, turquoise waters of Batson Beach. Huge thanks to our wonderful host, Ms. Rein, who went above and beyond to let us have a BBQ at Batson Beach (part of Malaika Hideaway). Highly recommended!

The bed was very comfy and the linen extremely clean and good quality. The breakfast was included and is very good - they’ve a lot of choice on the menu. Overall it’s a relaxed vibe and staff were lovely. It’s in a quiet area between two beaches. Location wise it’s about 20 mins from the port. You can walk to the larger Santiago bay beach which has a good range of food options. You do need a bike if you want to explore the island (can rent one at the hostel rented one for 400php a day. There was a couple of lovely friendly polite dogs who I really liked seeing around the place too.

Cleanliness of the room and the location

“Sensational Santiago”

So to get a double bed in a dormitory was a huge bonus. Slept like a baby. Breakfast and dinner options were varied and bar was reasonably priced. Location was very good as my scooter could get me to 3 beaches for a morning swim. Easily my favourite island so far.

“Neither a resort nor a hostel”

We initially booked a 6-night stay here, trusting the overwhelmingly positive reviews. However, within the first 10 hours, we encountered multiple power cuts, which we later learned are government-mandated. Since reliable internet is essential for our work, we couldn’t risk further disruptions and decided to cut our stay short to just three nights. We moved to a 3-star hotel that not only had a generator but also had all the amenities and comfort we were missing here, offering better amenities at a more affordable rate.

Good free breakfast and restaurant. Pizza! Nice helpful staff. Live band. 8 minutes walk to the beach. Quiet at night.
