After a long walk into headwinds up to 45kph, Leo and Gemma made us feel exceptionally welcome. The vegan hot and cold salad that Leo prepared might just be the best we have ever eaten, followed by superb pasta with vegetables and 3 types of mushrooms. We are not foodies but this was extraordinary, as was the simple breakfast the next day. The room was spacious and comfortable, westerly sun in the room. Marvellous.

“Spanish hospitality at its best. A charming discovery.”
The property was completely charming, from warm welcome to fond farewell. Gorgeous hostess Jemma was friendly, professional and a fountain of fabulous information about family history, the local area and it’s cultural traditions. Spanish hospitality at its best.

“The best accommodation we’ve had on the Camino”
The hotel is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It is full of artefacts and photos which gives it a homely feel. This is truly an oasis on the Camino

“It is worth making a trip here just to experience this hospitality.”
The beautiful Hostess & Host - Jemma and her husband - locals who were proud of their heritage and their establishment. They worked very hard to see that everyone was welcome and well looked after. The meals, especially breakfast was delicious and generous. I cannot recommend them more highly. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the general appointment of the establishment is a gem.

“An oasis of calm, with a very warm welcome.”
I liked everything about this property. The location is perfect to commence walking the Calzada Romana section of the Camino Frances. At the end of a long day’s walk to receive such a warm and friendly welcome from the owners, Gemma and Leo, was truly wonderful. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that nothing was too much trouble for them. The property is beautifully decorated and, unlike many others I have stayed at along the way, it is extremely well maintained. This is the first place I’ve stayed where they actually want your feedback, and any suggestions on what they could do to improve their property and service. As far as I was concerned, there was nothing. It was a real treat to have dinner and breakfast at the accommodation. Dinner was really lovely with lots of choices all prepared by Leo. What I also liked about dinner was that it was served from 6 pm; it was nice not having to wait longer as I was very hungry. Breakfast was served from 8 am and this again was perfect for me because I was in no hurry to depart. I had some of the best coffee that I’ve had so far and although I did not sample it, I am told that the home-made jam was delicious. I should say that I had one of the best night‘s sleep I have had so far, because where the property is situated it is so quiet and peaceful. When I left, Gemma gave me some good advice on which turn to take off the Calzado Romana to my next accommodation in Mansilla which proved to be very useful. Thank you very much for making my stay such a pleasant and relaxing one. Finally, I have stayed at lot of places now on my journey and this is the third one where I think the owners should be charging more.
