“A useful stopover with a congenial bar-restaurant”

We found the street we needed but the address on booking.com is wrong - it's number 56 (not 76). The hostal is part of a roadside bar - restaurant. Parking spaces in front were full but we were able to park round the corner in a small side-street - conveniently situated outside the back door of the hostal. Check-in took place in the bar, which was busy with locals who were friendly and offered to help us fill in the check-in form. Our room (with bathroom) was upstairs, rather small and simple, but perfectly adequate for a stopover. The evening being fine we sat at a table outside the bar, which had a nice selection of snacks - we'd recommend the seafood tapas.

The thing that strikes me most is the consideration of the owner, who phoned me in advance of my attendance to inform me that food would not be available on arrival due festive holiday closure of the cafe.

“A Clean and Simple Stay with a Friendly Host and a Side of Spanish Lessons”

I had a blast at Hostal Alayka Hotel in Spain! The rooms were so clean, I could have eaten off the floor (but let's be real, I wouldn't want to waste a good meal like that). The furnishings were simple, but it gave me an excuse to live like a minimalist for a little while. The host was friendly and welcoming, even though he only spoke Spanish. I had to brush up on my poor Spanish, but it was worth it for the laughs.

The personnel was very nice and welcoming, even though they don't speak English and I speak very little Spanish, but we managed do understand us. They served us a delicious meal with chicken, fries, local cheese and anchovies. The room was sparkling clean and had everything we needed.
