“Be careful the owner might tell you it is not available and that you should cancel the reservation”
I didn’t get to stay there as the owner contacted me 2 weeks before to tell me that it wasn’t available as the kitchen was burnt by previous occupants. This seemed a bit strange for me in an electric kitchen. He offered me another apartment that he said had been refurbished and also had a parking space and would let me have it at the same price and said that I should cancel my booking.com reservation and pay him in cash in person. When I asked for photos, it was clear that it had not been refurbished and was nothing like the same quality. He repeatedly tried to get me to cancel my reservation, telling me it was for my benefit, that booking.com recommended this and sending me links to click on to cancel my reservation. I contacted booking.com customer services and they repeatedly told me that he was not responding to their questions. He then told me that he was going to give the other apartment to someone else, and repeated over and over that I needed to cancel. After a lot of stress with the owner, and my refusal to cancel my reservation; booking.com did help me to find another place to stay. I needed to block the owner from contacting me via WhatsApp as he was getting quite aggressive and telling me I did bad things by getting another place.
