“Remote and absolutely lovely!”

Little paradise. Far from the main road. Wild river to swim in. A beautiful swimming pool with a big shallow space for kids. Beautiful surroundings. Sounds of birds and frogs and water. Great food. We spent an amazing week here. Including the guided hike up to the Terrazas Bunkuany (Carlos was a fabulous guide, and his cousin served us a big yummy lunch at her restaurant in the mountains).

What a great experience !! Hotel was amazing with great equipments and a lovely team!! Be aware the hotel is hard to reach (which makes it very unique, quiet and remote) and there is not many options to arrive at the hotel. Not a big deal just need to plan in advance

“Tucked away paradise on the foot of Tayrona National Park”

We booked only 1 night at MadreSierra to bridge the gap between our Tayrona trip and our way back to Cartagena. What a mistake - we should have stayed a week!! This is the most hidden away paradise you can imagine. Everything from the service by lovely Fernando with complimentary welcome cocktails to bringing our bags up and down to the room and turning up our jacuzzi. This was an utter surprise and delight for our tired hiking bodies. They’ve accommodated our room changes even though they didn’t have to, made us complimentary brownies when we mentioned we craved chocolate and simply have been fantastic in every regard. This place also - just wow! You have WiFi to work, amazing nature, great food, natural pools in the river and a regular pool about to be finished.

We carefully selected this place for staying 4 nights over new year's eve some 4 months in advance. - But arriving there, there was no room (hut) available anymore, due to a short circuit according to the official explanation. - We remain with some doubts about what really happend, in the "lobby" where quite a few guests with luggage probably waiting for a room. The way the staff was receiving us (we were driving that day many hours, arrving tired from Cartagena) was totally unacceptable. The manager seemed to be overwhelmed with the situation... She wanted to inform us already the same day morning about the situation, but as we were concentrated on driving, we learned about it only on arrival... She arranged for us one night at a nice nearby resort called Kantawa (from 30 to 31 December) and left it to us figuring out where to stay for the night of 31 Dec, 01 and 02 January. - You can imagine this is not an easy task to do at ultra-short notice and the impact this could have to your oversea's holiday (we came from Europe)... We were extremely suprised about the warm welcome at Kantawa and their efforts in helping us, even arranging a very improvised solution for hosting us two nights when they were also fully booked.

The food was amazing, super healthy and fresh. The location was out of a movie, never been at such an amazing location in the middle of nowhere. And probaly the best thing was the personel, amazing people with such a good attitude and vibe.

The place is amazing, If you like the nature this is your place.

The staff at Hotel Madresierra were stand out for me - they truly embody the friendly nature of the Colombian people. There was a protest on the day we arrived and the gentleman collecting us was waiting in traffic for 8 hours, but still arrived with a smile. The location is a real treat - it is difficult to get to (you can arrange transportation with the hotel in advance), but it is worth it! I believe there are also some recently discovered terraces (similar to the Lost City) a 1.5 hour walk away The breakfast is delicious and wholesome and the rooms comfortable. Highly recommend booking this place to treat yourself!
