Big apartment in generally good condition, not too far outside the city centre. Lady who met us (not the owner) was very nice Initially told could not check in prior to 5pm either which is quite late in the day. Was advertised so not a criticism of the owner just didn't like it being that late in the day. We were allowed in slightly earlier which was kind

“Cluttered flat on the outskirts of Caen”

The flat had all the basics to provide a comfortable stay. The block was reasonably quiet and the street parking was plentiful and very close to the entrance. Inside the flat each room was equipped with electrically operated blinds, which shaded the flat from the strong sun in the afternoon and could be adjusted to provide total or partial blackout at night. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. In the kitchen we found a small supply of salt, balsamic vinegar and a started sachet of cumin, which were useful. The fridge-freezer was clean and worked well. The microwave had a plate instead of the original turntable, but worked nonetheless, although it had an unpleasant odour. When we reported the tiny trickle of water in the sink and bathroom basin, the owner quickly arranged repairs and we were fully satisfied with the supply of hot water thereafter. The shower had a reasonable spray and worked well, although the drain was partially blocked by trapped hair (not ours), which I removed.

Value for money

The flat was clean and well equipped (as the owner live in usually). Internet was good. The shower use a gas boiler (so it never lack hot water). The owner was friendly and accommodating to our change of arrival time. There was ample parking place nearby. And supermarket are 5 min away by car.

Very clean and homely apartment. Host was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed.

The host was very nice and helpful. The Apartment was spacious and clean. The beds were very comfortable. The facilities were excellent.

The apartment is on the first floor and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. We were met by the friendly and helpful owner who gave us a thorough handover including where the shops were and how to get into the centre using the Tram system, which is a short 10 minute walk. Trams run about every 20 minutes. The apartment is also close to cycle routes including the Velo Francette, which is a national route from Caen to La Rochelle and passes through Suisse Normandy. There is ample covered bicycle parking in the basement for at least 6 bikes - but bring a good lock as the basement is used by other residents. It's also an easy 20 minute walk into the centre via the Hippodrome park.
