This is the perfect place to relax in Zanzibar. A little paradise at the beach and a few minutes drive from Paje. I loved the calmness and especially the hospitality - people took great care of me. Cocktails were amazing and the food delicious. Highly recommend it. Athmosphere was amazing with lot of little places to read and relay. I will definitely come back !

We loved staying at Evergreen bungalows, it was the first part of our holidays in Zanzibar and we couldn't have wished for a better welcome. The staff is the best, super kind and attentive, the food is delicious and the portions abundant. We loved the chilled and relaxed vibe, the happy dogs, cats and monkeys living in harmony and the location on the beach itself with plenty of corners to relax. Also, thank you very much Claudia for the generous free upgrade of our room, we loved staying right on the beach and were sad when it came time to leave.

5-nights stay in this perfect place to chill and relax, with plenty of options on the beach to hide in the shade from the cruel equatorial sun (beach beds, hammocks etc.). It was our choice to go lazy all the way, but perhaps next time (there's definitely going to be a next time) we're gonna take advantage of the kitesurf school next door or the excursions (ie. snorkeling trips) on offer - maybe it's also possible to take some fishing trip? Cocktails are great and all the food we had was super tasty (as I'm writing this, I'm drooling at the thought of those seafood soups). The staff is very attentive and warm.

What a surprise this hidden paradise turned out to be! A very special place in Zanzibar where we experienced authentic friendliness and warm hospitality. We ate all our meals there and everything was prepared with great care to details. The breakfast was exceptional. We tried almost everything and our favourite was the advocados and feta on toast with eggs. Such friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. We would have liked to stay longer but it was fully booked...understandably!

Evergreen is the perfect choice for anyone seeking peace and quiet and wanting to avoid mass tourism. With the beach right at your doorstep, you can enjoy the sea from morning till evening, often walking around barefoot and completely at ease. The restaurant is excellent, offering delicious dishes that change regularly. What truly makes this place special is the staff. They are incredibly warm, attentive, and always eager to fulfill every wish, making you feel welcome from the very first moment. The bungalows are simple but practical, providing everything you need for a relaxed stay. Overall, it’s a wonderful place to unwind, reconnect with nature, and simply enjoy life. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a genuine feel-good retreat.

“idyllic chill out spot, hakuna matata, - go on, treat yourself!”

My wife and I booked 4 nights at Evergreen at the end of a 3 week Tanzanian safari oriented holiday for some "total relaxation" and we found just that. A great deal of thought and effort has been put in by the owners Claudia and Mustafa to create a very informal, friendly, welcoming and relaxed establishment with as much luxury as can reasonably be expected in such a remote, idyllic location. The kitchen/restaurant/bar is very good, well stocked and reasonably priced and was very close to our room. The room itself opened directly onto the white powdery beach with the waters edge around 100m away at high tide. All the staff at Evergreen are exceptionally friendly, welcoming and I have to say exude competence, only once during our stay did any staff member ask our room number when ordering drinks or food, otherwise they simply knew who we were - and the place was fairly busy. ( we didn't actually know our room number and had to physically point to the relevant bungalow as it wasn't marked on the key either - apparently we were in No. 11, as I said relaxed and informal). Oh, I nearly forgot to mention, there was a live reggae band performing on the evening of our arrival (Friday)- what a welcome. Apparently there is also music and a BBQ on Tuesdays which we unfortunately missed as it was our departure day.

The location is wonderful, quiet and absolutely relaxing. The bungalow where we stayed did not have all the comforts like an hotel room, but we knew what we were doing when we booked here, we wanted to be immerse in the nature and that was exactly what we got, we even had the pleasure to see a little monkey on our balcony one day. All the people working at Evergreen are super polite and available, the way the treated us was unbelievable, it will be very hard to forget them. The beach in front of Evergreen is not crowded like Paje, and on top of that there are very few beach boys, one day we went in Paje and regretted it because we were stopped every 2 minutes by people trying to sell you something, so we decided to come back at Evergreen. Another crazy thing is the food, litterally everything was delicious, and we tried almost the entire menu during our stay. Also we cannot fail to mention Alawi, he will be your point of reference for every tour around the island, we did many tours thanks to him, and he was so sweet to give us gifts the day we left, so we really cannot forget him, and also Yusuf (our driver) which we fell in love with. This place really left something in our heart and in our memories. If we’d ever come back to Zanzibar this is the only place where we’d want to stay. A huge thank you goes also to Claudia and Mustafa, they did a wonderful job at Evergreen you can fell their love for this place, and on top of that they were very helpful. It is impossibile to not drop some tears the day you leave.

“A Lovely Short Break on the Beach with Comfortable Room”

I picked the location because it was near a diver centre so that I could go Scuba diving for half a day, and on the beach. I had no knowledge of Zanzibar or the bet places to stay. Evergreen Bungalows met my expectations. I requested a Kingsize bed and this was provided - we were upgraded for free. It was lovely to leave the room and be on the beach. The food is excellent - all meals.

“Not to be missed!”

Absolutely everything about this place exceeded our expectations! It's an absolute must-visit. We were particularly impressed by the owner's commitment to sustainability, evident in their refusal to use single-use plastics. Instead, they offer fresh water in glass bottles and provide stainless steel straws with each drink. The staff's kindness extends beyond humans, too - their furry friends, the dogs and cats, are clearly well-loved and cared for. Another thoughtful touch is the daily visit from staff around 6 pm to spray the room with bug repellent - a lovely added convenience. Overall, we can't recommend this place highly enough!

Excellent delicious breakfast. Fresh seafood. Pleasant, friendly staff. Fresh juice and cocktail concoctions with cool ocean breezes. I liked the touch of having a place to rinse the sand off. I loved that there were so many places to chill.

“Quiet paradise”

We chose one of the rooms facing the ocean and waking up to that view was spectacular. The food and smoothies were great and if you are looking for a relaxed place off the crowds that's the place to be. The staff are also always super helpful in finding and arranging activities.

You can not get a better spot to stay. Right at the beach, an extremely laid back and friendly atmosphere and delicious foods and drinks. We would love to come again and stay for more than just two nights.
