“Terrible”

The outside of the buildings looked like they had been left to the elements for decades, with the walls covered in mold and stains from floodings. In fact, our room was flooded during an evening of heavy rainfall; the tenants in the room next door had water coming in through the roof. Our room was small, and we had not enough space to store our luggage. There was only one electricity outlet to charge our phones, located at an awkward position away from the bed. The bed was small and uncomfortable. There was only one tiny bedside furniture for the both of us and one small cabinet. The cabinet looked like it was picked up from a dump and literally fell apart when we opened it. The “minibar” contained only water bottles. The bathroom contained no furniture and was equipped with sub-standard, dirty, old appliances. Mold was growing in between the bathroom tiles, and the warm water supply of the shower was poor. The towels provided were worn-out, paper-thin and stank. When we complained about the towels, the owner provided new ones to us. The next day, we brought one of the new towels along in our car, so we could dry off after scuba diving. When the obsessing landlady found out about this, she sent us text messages. In response, we complained about the bad service and the poor state of the property. This angered her husband, who rubbed a piece of plasticized paper in the face of my girlfriend, while shouting at her and complaining that we violated the house rules, where it states that towels are not allowed to be taken to the beach. For us, this was enough, and we decided to leave prematurely. We feel we have been deceived by a 9.5 rating of this property on Booking.com. The official photos do not show the dire state that this property is in and the owners have treated us with aggression. We have paid close to a 100 Euros per night for this awful experience and we have asked back our money. We are still waiting for a response...

There is lots of nature surrounding it. The guesthouse owners are nice and helpful.

The most exceptional thing about staying here are the lovely owners/hosts, Ana Paula and her husband (sorry, I don't think I caught his name). This was my first time ever in Brazil and Ana Paula was so welcoming, helpful and warm. I also booked this place as I was traveling from London and appreciated that Ana Paula speaks perfect English (since I don't speak Portugese or Spanish myself). The breakfast is wonderful, with freshly made omelette every morning. We also had some of the best sleep ever staying here - it is so peaceful. The pool is lovely too which we got to use in the mornings before going out to the beach. Thank you Ana Paula for making us feel so at home!
