“Know what you're getting”
The pool, the aquatic life (birds, turtles, iguanas, crocodiles), the friendly and accommodating staff, laundry facilities/service and authentic Mexican food.

“For the most part everything was fine other than the cold shower and not having fresh drinking water”
There was no drinking water when I arrived. I had to walk all the way to the front desk to get a towel which was then delivered to my room. There was no hot water to take a shower so I had to take a cold shower.
