Breakfast was lovely, all fresh, lots of choices, good quality, good tea, nice view from the terrace of the Chateau. The pool was lovely, location and ancient chateau buildings wonderful. Close on site parking.

Lee & Belinda were fantastic hosts nothing was too much trouble. Belinda's food both Breakfast and evening meal were both excellent. the swimming pool was lovely and well maintained. The history of the property is very well maintained giving a real medieval castle experience. The main chateau rooms are large and medical style .Bathrooms are very clean and upto date.

Right from the start we were welcomed with such warmth. You do not feel in an hotel but in their private home. The food served was plentiful and delicious. Belinda is a very accomplished chef. Lee is the perfect balance to her. He is such an historian and very very knowledgeable about their chateau. Actually they have both led such full lives before reaching the chateau they are the perfect couple to be perfect hosts. The pool is fantastic. We had an amazing stay can recommend a 100% The ambiance of being in a medieval chateau is genuinely unique. It’s something that can’t be conjured up.

A very warm welcome received on our arrival. Very comfortable and all you could need for an amazing self catering stay at Chateaux Mareuil. Fabulous swimming pool to swim and chill. Belinda and Lee such perfect hosts. History tour amazingly carried out by Lee with such knowledge. Sumptuous dinner provided by Belinda. A highly recommended stay, one not to be missed.

Everything, Belinda & Lee were so friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The studio was well equipped and comfortable. Lee gave us a tour of the Chateau, we were blown away by the beautiful and authentic renovations they’ve done and the history of the place. The surroundings are pure tranquility and a perfect night sky! Breakfast was lovely and fresh items from the Boulangerie were a real treat! The effort they both put in really shows and we would return in a heartbeat, thank you! Rachael, Chris & Georgie.

We loved our stay in Chateau Mareuil albeit only for a night. We received a very warm welcome from Lee who was an exceptional host and we soon felt that we had known him forever. He told us about the history of the Chateau and how he and Belinda had acquired the property. Lee showed us around and we were delighted with the accomodation. The en-suite bathroom was both quirky, spacious and modern, being entered through a wooden door that appeared to date from the origins of the buiding! The bed was very comfortable and a good nights sleep was had. We were so impressed by the decor, furnishings and comfort of the entire Chateau which was homely and not like a hotel as other, larger Chateaux may be. We were encouraged to make ourselves at home which we most certainly felt able to do. Breakfast was served by Lee and what a spread it was. Fresh bread, croissants and Pain au Chocolat, fresh from the local bakery, together with yoghurt, home made jams (made by Belinda), orange juice and coffee. The garden areas were natural with a Potager where Lee and Belinda grow most of the produce used by Belinda when providing food for guests. The swimming pool next to the Potager is large and a very welcome addition. There is a Gite and a studio that provides self catering accomodation for those who wish to stay in the area for a longer time. We have never felt so comfortable in any similar environment. We would most definitely return and we highly recommend it to others.

Originality

Belinda and Lee were the most welcoming of hosts and made our stay very special. The dinner and breakfasts we had were delicious and very sociable events. The pool was very welcome and we slept very well both nights we stayed there.

Our hosts went above and beyond to make this stay memorable...from the home made soup at arrival to a fantastic French breakfast. Thank you!

Lee was a tremendous host. his knowledge of the chateau and willingness to share with us was great. unfortunately we were unable to eat the evening meal on the day. but Belinda booked us into a nearby restaurant which was a very nice place to eat

What can we say? We loved everything! The hosts belinda & Lee, the food, the chateau. A very warm and welcoming couple, nothing is too much trouble. Very peaceful setting and full of birdsong in the mornings. Thank you both for a lovely couple of days and an extra thank you to Lee for taking time out to give us a tour and history lesson on the chateau.
