The host notified me just one day before my arrival that I, someone who had already paid in full via Bookings, needed to provide a deposit of 300 AUD using an Australian bank account which called PAYID. I found this entirely unreasonable, as my credit card details were already saved on Bookings, and the pre-authorization for the deposit could easily have been handled through the Bookings platform. It seemed like the host had never considered that international travelers might not have an Australian account. Furthermore, I received this message while already on the plane, leaving me no time to address the situation. In the end, I was forced to send him photos of both sides of my credit card, which posed a significant risk to my information security—a situation I found completely unacceptable.
