Just opposite its own private sandy beach, Hotel Il Girasole is in Bova Marina, on the southernmost tip of the Calabria region. It features a restaurant-pizzeria, bar and free WiFi throughout. Regrettably we only had one amazing night at this absolutely beachfront hotel, we could have stayed for weeks. The view from our Seaview room was spectacular, you could almost reach out and touch the ocean. We sat on the balcony taking in the view. The bathroom also has a view. Dinner was cooked by the owner of the hotel whose culinary skills are incredible. You must stay here and soak up the tranquility of the surroundings, it is so rejuvenating.

“A hidden gem”
The host, Maurizio, was the surprise of this property. He is very personable and extremely attentive to the needs of his guests, whether it was a special food request at dinner or an urgent need of a cold Coca-Cola on arrival. Highly recommend a stay here at any time.

Perfectly fine for the price. Breakfast included in the price. The hotel a lso has a fine restaurant. Just across the beach (and close to the center), yet quiet. The owner was very informative about the spirit and culture of Calabria.

“Very nice!”
