The atmosphere of staying inside the old fortress in renovated officer's quarters was wonderful. The breakfast was very good, with lots to choose from. Very clean room. Professional, friendly and helpful staff.

“Fort Bourtange stayover”
The area was beautiful and well kept. There is a lot of old houses that was beautifully restored and a windmill and other places that could be viewed. It was a trip back in history.

“Very nice B&B style hotel in a beautiful fortress town”
Nice rooms in old fortress buildings Well equipped rooms and with good mattresses (firm, which I personally like) Decent breakfast in a separate fortress building Two restaurants a few steps away on the central square Bourtange is a very beautiful location, especially towards the evening, when the majority of the day-tourists are gone. Very quiet at night.

“Awesome place to stay and inside the fort, right on our cycle path!”
Very comfortable cottage in the centre of the fort! Very clean. Loved the big bath tub after a hard day cycling. Breakfast was excellent. Check in was easy at the information centre. Theme of the room was fun! Meal at the restaurant was great.

“Clean hotel and friendly staff.”
The bed was big and long enough for my 197 CM tall husband to fit in. Also the bathroom was clean with enough water pressure.

“Fabulous experience”
Amazing location. All staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely. It was a great experience and a bonus to see the village when all the visitors had gone. We stayed in a box bed and despite reservations (tall people) it was very comfortable. Spotlessly clean everywhere.
