Beautiful historic hotel.

We booked this place because it was near the Borgund church and there wasn’t any better choice near the Flam terminal. It turned out to be a great choice. We enjoyed our stay very much, largely due to the pleasant staff like Anna and Marie who made us feel at home. Anna single-handedly carried our two medium sized luggages up to our room! Marie was always there to greet us with her friendly smile every morning. The breakfasts had the best local dishes we tasted and many varieties of condiments. The dinner we had at the hotel was one of the best meals throughout our 20 days in Norway. From the appetiser to the dessert, they were all very high standards, even much better than one of the top restaurant we visited in Oslo. We were told the chef was the hotel owner! The room was one of the rare ones in Norway that came with tissue box (which one would expect of any international hotels). Bed was comfortable, we appreciated having two chairs and a long bench in the bedroom and an additional stool in the bathroom. There are plenty of space in and around the hotel to explore, lounge area with fireplace to relax. Unloading of luggage was easy using the back door near to the staircase. No steps or rocky paths to drag our luggage on. Several historical landmarks are within walking distance, a car would make exploring the area easy but taxis do call at the hotel.

Staff were so obliging compared to all other Norwegian hotels we had stayed at. The hotel was beautiful and beautifully appointed the food ( evening meal and breakfast really good) the room quiet and comfortable. Art work was good, to more than interesting ,furnishing authentic .Whats not to like?

Perfect location Delicious dinner, little expensive, but worth every penny 😀 Enough parking space. Coffee machine is placed in the corridor, free of charge.

Everything was perfect. Nice building, quiet room, perfectly clean. Kindness of the people working there. Excellent breakfast. Easy to park.

“Very out of the way and peaceful”

Great look, very quiet. Excellent dinner. We couldn't really use the facilities much because of the weather. Off the beaten track. Very limited bar facilities but the staff were very friendly and accommodating and made us a "travelling breakfast" because we had to leave the hotel too early for the sit down breakfast as we had a fjiord cruise to catch.

“A jem in Hosum”

A fancy hotel. Location perfect to visit the Stave Church in Borgund. Very classic. It is n old and historic building that gives a pleasant touch and experience. Staff nice and kind. Breakfast very good with ample choice. We booked the dinner since there is nothing in the area. Lovely experience but a bit expensive. This is Norway.. Parking available

“A gem of a hotel with great food.”

A traditional small hotel in the countryside not far from the stave churh at Borgund from which there is a very pleasant walk up an historic road. We booked dinner for the evening of our arrival and ate our best meal during our complete stay in Norway of 3 weeks+. The breakfast buffet was obviously not as extensive in choice as a large hotel could provide but it was plentiful enough and of excellent quality.

We chose the hotel because of its location, walking distance to the Vindhellavegan (kings road) and the Borgund Stave Church. For a small hotel the set menu evening meal was excellent and there was a good breakfast choice. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The general decor in the lobbies and rooms was tasteful and very clean.
