“Beautiful reclusive location, great for a short stay.”
Beautiful reclusive location in iðunnarstaðir. It feels very exclusive, and is very much worth the price. The spring is beautiful and gives stunning views down the valley. There's also some great waterfalls and a historic viking baptism site slightly further east. Staff were also extremely friendly and welcoming.

Exceeded our expectation. It is a gem. Unique, one of a kind, amazing experience. Location is amazing, secluded and quiet. Busy but not noisy on the inside. Clean, new, nice breakfast and amazing bonus the hot tub!

“A lovely place to stay if you want to experience a more isolated location but with comfortable facilities.”
Very nice staff. Peaceful location. Comfortable and wonderful views. Its appearance is rather like portakabins but that belies a pleasant but very simple interior with spacious rooms. Has a very pleasant hot spring.

Our third time Basalt hotel, and still it is heaven on earth! The rooms are spacious, with great beds and a great shower and a huge bathroom! Of course we emerged ourselves the hot tub, with the amazing view on the valley. The hosts are so friendly, and nice to meet one of the owners again ☺️ We will certainly return! Huge recommendation! Everything! It was amazing, we loved it there! I didn’t want to leave. It was so peacefully, calm, beautiful nature, amazing view, amazing sunset, good breakfast and great hot tube. Comfortable bed, slippers and robe to lend.

We had such a wonderful stay at Basalt Hotel. Beautiful hotel in a stunning peaceful location. Rooms were beautifully designed and super clean. Breakfast and food at the restaurant was great. The owners were also lovely and knowledgeable about the local area. Perfect location to see the northern lights if they’re out. Wish we could have stayed for longer!

We loved the location away from all stress from city life. The highlands of Iceland is not far away and we could ride for hours on our fourwheeler and always saw something new exciting. The breakfast and dinner were very good and we slept like babies this weekend.

Secluded and beautiful area. Staff was very friendly and helped us a lot with planning hikes and activities for the next day. Room was clean and comfortable. I highly recommend this place especially if you are tired of hustle and bustle of the city.
