Bambuda Castle is a hostel located in Boquete, a small town in Panamas coffee region. The property features a bar, swimming pool and a hot tub. The hostel has both dorms and private rooms that all include linen and safety boxes. The private rooms have both a private entrance and a private bathroom. There is a terrace that overlooks the Volcan Baru, the highest mountain in Panama. At Bambuda Castle you can book all of your tours and transportation. An array of activities can be enjoyed on site or in the surroundings. Boquete has some of the worlds best coffee plantation and is the perfect place for all outdoor activities including hiking, zip lining and river rafting.

We really liked our hobbit style private room, we had a lovely view and the room itself was very spacious with great amenities and very comfortable bed. Good pool & hot tub. Lovely bar area and view over Baru when clear in the morning. The trips that the hostel organise are decent. Really easy to communicate with the property before and during arrival. Oscar is the restaurant/bar was amazing 😊

Everything was amazing! The staff was friendly, there were a lot of vegetarian options in the restaurant, it was very clean and of course the location itself. It felt like a fairytale. Its a beautiful place and we would definitely recommend it

Amazing views and very good facilities. The castle grounds were super nice and the common areas clean and well maintained. They offered a shuttle to town and nearby hiking spots which was super handy and prices were really fair. The hobbit house we stayed at was nicely designed and more spacious than expected but I would recommend other room types more for a good value for money.

“Bambuda? Bamboozled if you fall for it.”
The food itself was fabulous; shame the hotel isn’t run by the chef(s). Hygiene is being horribly let down by poor management. Clearly, the hotel is desperately understaffed and lacking support to clean tables between sittings, even though the tables are regularly frequented by birds consuming leftovers as guests wait for the overworked server to clear the table. Cute to see, disgusting when you think it through. Our server agreed to clean our table but didn’t: cutlery arrived wrapped in a stained napkin, along with a pepper shaker with a gross streak across the hole and down its side. These tables should be sprayed with a sanitizer before each seating. Front desk were wonderful, energetic and apologetic at being short of cleaners, saying they’d get to our room the next day--after we were due to checkout! They then promised to bring towels to our room, but didn't. We liked the hot tub and pool, except it was so filthy it had to be closed for the day we had considered using it but then chose to avoid the cloudy murky water the bathtub sized "pool" contained. We loved the view from our window, except we had to pull down the vinyl blind every evening for any privacy. Even the opportunity to sleep under the stars is denied by the blinding coach light outside the window blazing down upon the bed. We liked the social media influencer type who texted to enquire how we were doing–friendly until we sent a series of messages, and followed up with an email at their request detailing our first issue (more about that in the 'didn't like' section) when they simply ghosted us. Booking.com were advised, and they tried to help, but even they got no response from the 'sincerely concerned' hotel management. Eventually the website gave us back 10% of what we'd paid, saying they could do no more.

Was more than I expected for a hostel room. You have the experience of a hostel with the comfort of a really nice hotel. The food and coffee is delicious, staff are very helpful and lovely. And it’s very clean.
