“Great place with a lovely family vibe”

Lovely family hostel, created with clear love and care for the guests and the house. We felt like visiting family - everything was clean, practical. All places and appliances were labeled with instructions and rules, which was very useful. The room was nice, the bathrooms good and practical, there was a nice balcony, there was even breakfast included, and it was very tasty, with some local homemade products. This is definitely one of the loveliest places i've stayed.

Hospitality of an owner was extraordinary, and the vibe of a whole place was extremely positive and comfy! There is a lot of space for children to play and to hang out either with family or with other guests. Location is very good, close to Mostnica gorges, Bled lake, and Vogel.

It was cosy and warm, and full of personal touches. I was made to feel very welcome by Katya. It was a great base for a couple of wonderful winter walks.

We had a wonderful time at this hostel. The place is spacious, clean, and the kitchen is fully equipped with absolutely everything you might need. Breakfast was lovely — homemade honey, yogurt, and freshly made smoothies. The host is incredibly kind, speaks perfect English, and really goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome. The hostel is full of funny pictures that will make you smile, and there are many thoughtful touches like free earplugs and a mini fridge for guests at the reception. Excellent value for money — highly recommended!

Our experience at this hotel was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed. The hosts were absolutely wonderful – friendly, communicative, and always ready to help with anything we needed. The rooms were not only beautifully decorated but also impeccably clean, making us feel instantly at home. Breakfast was a real treat – delicious, fresh, and perfectly prepared to start the day. Every detail showed care and attention, and it made our stay even more special. Leaving was honestly very hard, as we felt so comfortable and well taken care of. We are already looking forward to returning in the future – this place has truly captured our hearts!

This hostel completely won our hearts. For my wife, it was actually her very first hostel experience. She said, “Your first hostel is like your first «love» you never forget it.” And I think she’s right. If all hostels were like this one, people would have a totally different impression. Normally, when you think about a hostel, you imagine noise, alcohol, dirt, and discomfort. But here it felt like we just came to visit friends or family. Katja, the owner, has been running this place for many years, and she created it in memory of her grandmother, Mamma Minka. You can literally feel that love in every single detail — every note on the wall, every corner. It’s all filled with warmth, memories, and respect for her grandmother. And I have to mention the cleanliness: it’s absolutely spotless. You can walk barefoot everywhere, not a single hair, not a speck of dust. For those who are super picky about cleanliness — relax, this place is perfect. The energy of this hostel is incredible. Breakfast is made with love, and Katja herself is amazing — she gave us great advice on where to go, what to see, and shared stories that made us feel so welcome. At first, we chose this hostel because other options were too expensive. But now, after staying here, we know that even if we have plenty of other choices next time, we will definitely come back to Katja’s.

Host was super friendly and had a lot of info laying around of what to do and where to go. Shared bathroom and facilities were great. Being able to use the kitchen was a plus and the room was as described and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was homemade and with some fresh goods, would recommend adding some options for lactose intolerant or people who don't eat dairy. Highly recommend and location was great!

We had a great stay at Hostel Mama Minka and liked everything about it! It gave a very homey vibe, Katja showed us around when we checked in and was very friendly when we saw her at other times too, and it was nice to say hello to the other guests (and their dogs!). The breakfast was lovely and all guests sat around a big table in the dining area. Having a parking space was very convenient. We were able to do our laundry as well which saved us from driving out. We didn't notify of our arrival time in advance, so no one was around when we arrived, and we do not have a local phone number so were unable to call, but Katja was very responsive on Booking which made it very easy. Overall, would highly recommend a stay here if you are in the Bohinj area!
