“Overwater bungalows in a quiet and secluded place”

We loved our stay at Punta Caracol. The location is awesome, it's quiet and in the middle of nature, sitting directly on a great snorkeling reef which you access directly from your suite. You get snorkeling equipment (including fins), water shoes and kayaks for free. Kayaks were perfect for exploring nearby mangroves. Our Luna Suite was very nice, comfortable, and spacious, with stylish mosquito nets over beds. You can charge your phone or other device at reception at any time. Breakfast was delicious, with reasonable selection including fresh fruit. Lunches and dinners were also good, with multiple options below $20 per person for a meal + cocktail/beer. Based on some previous reviews, we weren't really sure what to expect in terms of service level, but we've had zero issues in the end - the free breakfast from Booking.com and discount was honored, free shuttle was provided without asking, etc. The staff spoke good English and everyone was awesome, very nice, helpful and welcoming. We would definitely like to come back again!

The place is in a beautiful and deserted area where you can be close to nature. The rooms are quite specious with a private water entrance. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. You can rent kayaks for free which is a nice thing to do. The snorkeling is quite good- you can see stingrays, some lively corals and a lot of fishes.

Beautiful!! Amazing location, gorgeous property, staff are amazing. The wait and chef staff are so lovely, Maria & her brother are so helpful; nothing is too much to ask. The food was really good & I would happily stay again!

A special place to stay at and totally worth it. Snorkeling right in front of your door. Staff were very nice and flexible and helped us organize our trip to Costa Rica last minute. We would have loved to stay longer!

Everything! The place is amazing! Quiet and peaceful but only a short boat ride from the town. Staff members are all great and very friendly . Food at the restaurant is good and reasonably priced. Kayaks and snorkeling gear available free of charge.

“Bitterly Disappointing”

Let’s start with the positives, we had accidentally booked one more night than we needed, whilst a refund for the would have been nice, the hotel did instead include our daily breakfasts throughout our stay. My partner and I are vegetarian and after highlighting the limited menu choices, the restaurant did provide a vegetarian pizza on one of the nights which was a welcome reprieve, and generally the staff are quite friendly but I’m afraid that’s where the positives end.

I liked the experience of staying there for 4 nights although my family said for 2 nights is max. If you expect just nature , silence and relax it is a good place. It is just water around so the activities you may do are reading, sunbathing and water activities ( swimming, kayaking and snorkeling but you may see no much underwater wonders there). No wifi in the lodges only in the restaurant area. You may charge devices only at the bar counter. It was doable for us so bring mobile batteries with you if you cannot survive without your mobile/tablet or laptop.On the other hand it is a perfect place to disconnect. The cleaning service was offered each day, bottled water delivered by cleaning ladies every day,Be aware that there is slightly salty water in the bathroom. You have to use the bottled water to brush your teeth. The place offers 4 times a day a boat transport to Bocas for free. Otherwise for a boat taxi to a nearest beach - star beach we had to pay 75$ ( 25 per person)- which I think too much for to and back - twice 10 min drive. They took advantage that you do not have a choice, no other alternative. Star beach, which is I think the nearest one was ok - do not expect the beach will look like from holidays brochures. No nice golden sand , plastic chairs everywhere , a lot of rubbish behind restaurant areas and no really place to put your towel and relax. I did not really like it although starfish beach - sounds nice, doesn't it? Many restaurants but the quality of food seemed to me very low- for me it was a risk to eat there- of course my very personal view on hygiene. We ordered in one but we did not eat what was served. Bring your own biscuits and order bottled drinks- my recommendation.

The location of this lodge was amazing, away from the noisy town and dark waters. It was off the coast all on its own with clear waters and fish everywhere. We even saw stingrays! They provided extras such as kayaks and snorkelling gear free of charge which was great. The staff were super friendly and accommodating too.
