The beach Wizard, on walking distance of the guest house. Just be aware of thieves : left and right on the beach. They come out the jungle. There is an official warning in town plus police at the track. Don't leave your bags alone! I witnessed a robbery.

Great staff and location

The staff were great. It's a family run hotel as far as I could tell (father and son). They were both laid back and friendly (as is the whole vibe on the island!). The place has a large terrace where the kitchen, dining, and communal areas (with hammocks) are. It's covered so you won't get wet if it rains, and you can sit and look out into the jungle and sea as it pours. The house to me looked very typical of the island, so it was cool to stay in a place like that while visiting the place. I really enjoyed the island itself too. It felt like it had kept more of its original feel compared to bocas.

Beautiful colourful guest house with extremely sympathetic manager! We really did enjoy staying there, as the area is more authentic than bocas town. There is everything you need (shared kitchen if you want to cook), shared areas with board games and hammocks with nice view! Also the manager had let us to check in early for free (even we just asked if we can drop bags there) and was really friendly and helpful. Also AC in the room is always plus in Panama:)).

The place is good value for the money, nice views from the balconies and there are lots of common areas throughout with hammocks. We got upgraded to a nicer room with better light and AC which was great since its hot there.

“A super affordable and welcoming option on Bastimentos”

We enjoyed our stay at Bastimentos Hill. It was one of the cheapest places we've stayed at in Central America and we really liked the location and the super friendly staff, especially the owner's son who was a great kid. The room is basic but great value for the price and we highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at this property! The location is perfect, central, and convenient for exploring the area. The host was extremely kind and welcoming, making us feel at home right away. Our room, located on the upper floor, was spacious and very comfortable. One of the highlights was the shared terrace on the same floor, offering a breathtaking sea view. The hammocks were the perfect touch to relax and enjoy peaceful evenings. A place that truly stayed in my heart, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and relaxing experience!

Kind staff

this place feels more like a home than a Hostal. Enrique is a very nice a knowledgeable guy. At his place are growing so many different fruits, it was just amazing.

We had a great time staying in Bastimentos — the town is very nice, with lots of great local restaurants serving delicious fresh food. The hosts (father and son) at this guest house make the place though, they are incredibly friendly and always happy to help, be it lending us snorkeling gear or a surfboard, or organising a very good value boat trip to Coral Cay with a friend of his (who also showed us a sloth in the mangroves!). It is an easy and safe 20-minute walk on a well-marked path (with monkeys!) to the beautiful and empty Wizard beach. From there you can keep walking to Red Frog (but this walk is through the jungle). Boats leave regularly from the town to Bocas Town. The room itself was basic but had everything we needed and was phenomenal value — we were very grateful for the A/C!
