“Fabulous lodge with great staff”
The lodge was beautiful! The owner went above and beyond in helping us have a good stay. We had booked a trip to the King Vulture hide which was a bit of a wash out due to heavy rain so Alfonso the owner took us around on a drive to show us the area. Very kind! The staff were all super and the room itself was just stunning. We stayed in Corteza which overlooked the river and had an outdoor shower.

“Great location, loved watching a huge variety of birds and room with outside bathroom was perfect.”
Great location by a river - loads of birds and other wildlife. Loved the outdoor bathroom and the veranda with hammock and appreciated the fresh coffee and fridge in the room. We really enjoyed the river trip up to the Nicaraguan border especially that the boat picked us up right outside our cabin.

Loved this little hotel, rooms were located right on the river, with a little verandah area so you could spend time emersed in nature. Heliconias flowers attracted humming birds right next to where you sat. We had an outdoor shower, which was fun. Erica and Frances were helpful and kind. We also enjoyed the boat trip down the Rio San Carlos and were amazed by the variety of animals and birds seen. A great place to spend a couple of days 😁

“Rainforest Lodging”
All the outdoors feels. We only stayed one night and unfortunately the rain preventing us from doing the rainforest hike, but none the less we loved the stay. The outdoor bathroom / shower area was fantastic, as was the decking which looked out over the forest and river. Breakfast was great as well.

“Magical”
The location was magical. Particularly loved the outside bathroom. Fridge and coffee maker useful. Humming birds and iguana outside our windows. Amazing view. We went horse riding and on the boat trip. Really informative and excellent guides.

“Off the tourist track”
Boat trip up the San Carlos river to the Nicaraguan border. Lovely local guide Alan, who also took us on a night hike in the jungle. All organised through the Lodge.

Everrything was great: the rooms were gorgeous, with the view on the river and many birds. The people from the lodge (Ericka) very nice and helpful.Two places to observe the birds, like tucans. The open dinning room has a very beautiful view on the garden and birds. The boat ride with Kevin and the kayak tour with Alan were just amazing. the open bathroom of our room was amazing as well!!

Excellent service. The rooms are perfect and comfortable with a nice view of the river. Great breakfast. And a paradise for birdwatching. Macaws and many more. Augusto is a great host, and the owner, Alfonso, and his family will make you feel at home.

location right in nature. fantastic kayaking tour which we actually preferred over the boat trip. the road is now paved (as of April 2023) so very easy to get to in a 2WD.
