Overview
This charming, Basque farmhouse has been carefully converted into an attractive, rural hotel, enjoying stunning panoramic views over the regional capital of Bilbao. Set 5 km outside of Bilbao city centre, the Hotel Artetxe is located on a hilltop offering views over the smart coastal city below. The hotel buildings were converted to the hotel by the Artetxe family, who continue to run the hotel. Nowadays it blends original, typically Basque features with a fashionable, minimalist style and modern amenities.

Gorgeous location, so accessible to the city yet sitting in the mountains. Staff we so lovely and helpful. The bus runs into the city centre from right outside the door. The funicular is very close too. The views are amazing. The facilities are not fancy but lovely. A wonderful surprise in the hills!

“No frills but excellent accommodation near airport.”
It was exactly as described, No frills and small single room but very comfortable and secure. Staff were outstanding. Location was extremely convenient for an early flight from Bilbao airport the next morning. Do go to the top of the hill where the funicular ends for the view.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The car park is a good size so parking was easy, there is a bus stop right by the entrance to the hotel site with a bus service directly into the city. Breakfast is available at an additional cost but was fresh with plenty of choice.

“Don't be put off by the two stars rating, the hotel is excellent.”
The location was excellent, easy to find. Room was so much better than expected. Lovely cold buffet breakfast with pastries, sandwiches, yoghurt, fruit etc,all really good quality and fresh.

“Comfortable hotel”
The room was clean and comfortable. The Staff was really nice. We had a really nice welcome kit with tea and coffee. It was really close to the center, about 18 minutes by car and the free parking was a plus.

Lovely accommodation within a walk of Bilbao, albeit up and down a pretty tough hill but really good to be able to leave the car behind and still wake up with an amazing view of Bilbao
