“Relaxing and comfortable stay, with appreciation for nature”

We had a very peaceful stay immersed in nature. The host Eliette was very friendly and helpful, with lots of passion for conservation. The apartment was clean and we really enjoyed the terrace looking out into the forest! We received a delicious home made breakfast each morning

We had a wonderful and unforgettable stay with Elliot and Mark. The hosts are so helpful and we’ve got many information of the nature, culture and history of Costa Rica. The spacious and well equipped accommodation is located in a beautiful place. If we get the chance to come back one day we will definitely stay there again.

“Hidden gem in the middle of the jungle! Great value for money”

We had an amazing time! This place is a hidden gem in the middle of the jungle where u can see a lot of toucans and birds. The cabins are comfortable, clean and the breakfast is good. It is a great value for money.

Excellent stay, very nice interior of the room, just outside of the terrace all the time lot of birds. Host lady extra nice and helpfull, helped a lot with reservations. Good breakfast, location is very calm, but not far from the stores, restaurants and tourist attractions (by car).

We had a wonderful stay with Eliette. The property was well designed, and homely and we were very well taken care of with a wonderful breakfast each morning which including lots of homemade treats. The gardens were beautifully maintained with lots of birds/ wildlife to see - we even caught a glimpse of a Tapir and her baby one night!

“Fabulous stay at Tierra Altas”

The cabins were clean, comfortable and gave a sense of really being in nature. The amount of wildlife we saw from our cabins or within the grounds was astonishing. My favourite of all the places we stayed on our trip

Wonderful place to stay. Beautiful nature, very kind and helpful host. Clean and spacious rooms. Breakfast plenty and made with love. It is a quiet place, very nice surrounding. Tenorio National park about 20 minutes drive away.

Tierras Altas is a much better place to stay than Heliconias Lodge! And if you pay an entrance ticket of USD 14 per person, you can access the trails of Heliconias. The two lodges are only 300 meters apart!

This is a magical place -- we were escaping the Minnesota winter to bird, hike and enjoy Costa Rica, and our stay was absolutely wonderful. We were even invited to Christmas Eve dinner with traditional Costa Rican food. We saw incredible wildlife, facilitated by our hosts, and would come back again in a heartbeat.

We liked everything! Beautiful grounds to explore and such a wonderful variety of birds to watch, just sitting outside on the balcony. The chalets are really lovely, with very attractive woodwork, and the bed was very comfortable. Extremely knowledgable and helpful hosts. Super breakfast delivered to the chalet each evening, to be enjoyed the next morning when you decide. You cook your own eggs. Great idea!

Very warm welcome with homemade snacks/drinks and very friendly and helpful owners. So far our best stay in Costa Rica! All in very good condition and fully equipped. Attention to details. Easy communication. Great nature (birds, trail). Tasty homemade breakfast. Good location for visiting the Tenorio Park. Car parking just in front of the apartment.

Very well situated close to Rio Celeste. Various types of birds to see right outside our balcony. Breakfast was great. The owners, Eliette and Mark were great hosts and were very helpful. Highly recommended.

“The most confortable and peacefull place to stay”

The lodge was perfectly built : it's beautiful, decoration and accessories are modern and of good quality. With no doubt the most comfortable place we've been to : it's like a studio with all the equipment needed, matress is of good quality with extra blankets, bathroom is spacious, extra clean and everything seems brand new. The whole place is very quiet and we could observe the most amazing birds just in front of our terrace. The home made breakfast were delicious and generous. Thanks again for welcoming us. Hope we could have stayed more !

“A little piece of paradise”

The hosts were so very kind, they made us feel like family. Their dog and cat were so gentle with our 11 month old and provided countless hours of entertainment. Sitting on the balcony felt like a wilderness retreat with monkeys and Coatie coming to visit. The homemade bread and the beans and rice and salsa were delicious! I can't say enough about this wondeful piece of the world.

Amazing place on a beautiful property. The owners, Eliette and Mark are very kind and offert a lot of good conversations with many informations. The prepared breakfast was just delicious.

If you are interested in staying at a beautiful bungalow hidden high in mountains covered with dense jungle and listen to a tremendous number of colorful birds singing, Aves de Tierras Altas is definitely the place for you. That's the place where you are actually waited for as a guest and you can tell it by looking at how much the owners care about every single detail to make your stay unforgettable. Even before the stay the owner was all set to answer all the questions I had and was very helpful. We received plenty of delicious homemade food for breakfast.

The hosts were a lovely couple and their dog was a joy as well. They were extremely helpful and knowledgeable of the area and it’s amazing wildlife. Great value for money and amazing location. The cabins are very new and well made. Highly recommended
