Overview
Santuario di Oropa is a religious complex set in the Alps at an altitude of 1200 metres. It features an 18th-century basilica, smaller chapels and 2 beautiful courtyards. It is 15 minutes' drive from Biella. Offering beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, Santuario di Oropa is 600 metres from the funicular up to an altitude of 1900 metres. Oropa is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sacro Monte. It features a historic library and museum. Rooms are located in different areas of the complex and all have simple décor. You will also find a bar area and restaurant on site. You have free parking and free Wi-Fi in public areas. The nearest bus stop for Biella is just outside.

sleeping in the monastery offers a unique experience specially during the Ressurection.I would recommend this hotel to anyone likes calmness and cleanness,like the Korean Buddhist temples and unlike Mount Athos.Offers some eating possibilities too,although I brought my own food.

Historical location. Beautiful mountain surroundings, very picturesque. Peaceful and relaxing. Excellent food from a number of providers in the area. A wonderful escape from the urban centres.

Very poor wi-fi. So-called suites have nothing special compared to standard rooms. The whole Sanctuary is a beauty, with churches and chapels, a magnificent cemetery, lovely nature and mountains around. The employees, be it at the restaurant or the hotel, trust you (no security, no vigilance, etc.). The people at Croce Bianca Restaurant are very friendly. Also the (ex-voto) Gallery is worth the travel in itself: ultimate discover for me. Said so: there was twelve guests during my staying. I wouldn't know during High season...

This is a special place. Rooms are simple but beautiful. Nature around gives a unique atmosphere. Worth visiting, worth staying the night and see the Santuario's quiet evening and night.

“Excellent accommodations at a very good price and with staff that was always so friendly and helpful”
Staff was so very accommodating and helpful! The rooms themselves were great and a very good value. The best part was the shrine itself, staying right there was a real blessing.
