Had an amazing stay at Thousand Stars Desert Camp in Bidiyah, the atmosphere was peaceful and truly unforgettable. Sleeping in the desert under the stars was such a unique experience. Both breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious, with great quality and variety. On the day we were leaving, our car unfortunately wouldn’t start due to a battery issue. Thankfully, Ali and his team took such great care of us. They were incredibly kind and helpful, even taking us to a lovely café where we enjoyed excellent coffee and matcha. Really grateful for their hospitality and support. Highly recommend Thousand Stars Desert Camp for anyone looking for a special desert getaway!

We really enjoyed the spirit of a real and genuine stay in the desert (i.e. close contact with nature, silence, disconnection from the world.....) besides the service level provided. Both dinner and breakfast were very scrumptious and abundant besides the welcome drink (delicious tea, fruit juice and cookies); our tent was very nice and equipped with all the necessary stuff considering that we were in the desert, including the bathroom that really exceeded our expectations. These guys really deserve a special award for their effort, non need to say I strongly recommend them for an unforgettable experience in the desert !

“Simply perfect – the desert, the stars, and Ali’s heartfelt hospitality”

I never imagined the experience would be so fulfilling. Staying in the desert is more than just an adventure – it’s about surrendering to the vastness of the dunes, the purest silence, the countless stars, and above all, the hospitality and vision of the young entrepreneur, Ali. His camp, Thousand Stars Desert, is simply a ten out of ten. Located deep within the Wahiba (Sharqiya) Sands, surrounded by untouched dunes, it offers only two fully equipped tents, which makes the experience truly exclusive. The fact that there are only two rooms transforms the place into something unique and deeply personal. I can’t imagine traveling all the way to the desert to be surrounded by tourists. Here, it’s just you – alone with the desert, or perhaps sharing it with one other lucky guest. My tent had a huge, incredibly comfortable double bed – as good as, or even better than, any five-star hotel. The interior felt completely cozy and inviting. At night, the temperature drops, but Ali has thought of everything: the bedding is perfect, and nothing is missing. The bathroom is just a few steps away, fully equipped and spotless – shower, toilet, bidet, mirror, toiletries – everything works perfectly. You genuinely feel at home, and then you realize: I’m in the middle of an immense desert! Next to the tent, there’s a raised platform – a sort of private viewpoint – with soft mattresses and cushions where you can lie down and watch the end of the sunset. For the beginning of it, you should climb the dunes themselves. The views are breathtaking: you can watch the wind slowly shape the sand, and later, under the night sky, a dazzling display of stars appears in complete clarity. Camels wander nearby, their silhouettes visible on the horizon at sunset or dawn – curious and gentle presences that complete the scene. When night falls, torches are lit throughout the camp, guiding your way.

Ali’s camp. Thousand Satrs, is for those travellers who want to truly experience the scale of the desert, the peacefulness and amazing hospitality. There are only two tents, and we were lucky enough to be alone. I couldn’t imagine experiencing fhis special place anywhere else - particularly in one of the bigger, busier camps. My partner ane I stayed one night at Thousand Stars Camp and had an amazing time. A big thank you to Ali for his warm hospitality and passion for the camp. The location is incredibly peaceful—tucked deep in the desert with almost no one around. Ali personally arranged our transfers, picking us up in Nizwa and helping us get back to Muscat. We were welcomed with traditional Omani drinks and snacks, which made us feel right at home. The dinner was absolutely delicious—one of the best meals of our trip in Oman. The camp has a stargazing corner perfect for enjoying the night sky, and we highly recommend the sunrise camel ride. The views were breathtaking, and the caretaker kindly took great photos for us. This was a truly authentic and unforgettable desert experience. Highly recommended!

A sand desert is magical by itself - but setting up such an authentic two-tent camp in this remote place and having Ali & the two Saddam‘s as hosts is unbeatable. It is a bit costly, but worth every Penny 😎

My wife and I had the most incredible and immersive experience with Ali, his family, friends and team, who were exceptionally warm and welcoming. Despite being in the middle of the desert, we were able to enjoy all mod cons and a level of luxury and hospitality that surpassed our expectations. I would highly recommend doing this experience if you’re looking to camp under (a thousand stars) in comfort and relative luxury.
