Staying at Sultan Private Desert Camp was a truly unique experience. Spending a night under a sky full of stars was unforgettable, and both dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious. The brothers who own the camp are incredibly hospitable and go above and beyond to make sure every guest's needs are met. They are wonderful company and shared so many fascinating stories about Omani life and culture. We highly recommend this place!

Highlight of our trip!

Amazing place and absolute highlight of our trip so far. The people who run the place are kind, funny, patient and very very welcoming. They make you feel right at home. It's very suitable for kids of all ages as it's just one huge playground/sandpit to them. The camels were great and looked happy, well taken care of.

We had such a magical stay at this desert camp! Sleeping under the stars was unforgettable, and Mohamed, Abdula made us feel at home in the middle of the desert. This is one of the oldest camps in the area and you can feel the heart and tradition in everything they do. Their hospitality, delicious food and lovely conversations truly made it a special experience. Highly recommended! Thank you 🙏

A beautiful, very private, hidden gem!

It is really deep in the beautiful desert, even better than we expected. Very private around, away from the main tourist traffic, just sand dunes around and in the camp we were staying - only 3 tents, perfect. Inside the tent- comfortable beds, carpets, towels (lots of space in the tent), even the shower with open roof to the stars! :) Shower was for each tent separate, lovely and thoughtful. Modern toilet, a sink with a mirror outside, so dreamy. The place where you feel so welcome and like in another world at the same time. The staff was very friendly and helpful, special thanks to our amazing guide/driver Mr. Rashid - who treated as like a family, gave a lot of local tips for dining, logistics, places to see, and generally took care of us the whole time. Thank you very much, we will definitely come back! :)

Very nice staff. The tent was clean. It was as we expected it to be- simple and cosy. Breakfast and dinner takes place in other camp but this was not a problem for us-its even better as our place was more remote. Food was very tasty! We enjoyed dinner & chat around the fire. My kids loved it. I will not spoil more :) go and check yourself, if you like nature you will not regret. One day was just perfect for us.

Secluded private tent away from lights & noise2

Our secluded tent (one of only 2) was located away from their base camp Nomadic tents. Its also the base for our communal breakfast & dinner. Our Sultan tent was as we expected, secluded, utterly quiet & peaceful with amazing stargazing & sunrise views from a 2 min. climb to the dunes. The private bathroom was outside the tent but it was safe & make sure you look up 😉 Rashid & his family & team were very warm & hospitable, always full of smiles & entertaining. We arrived with our own private guide so we didnt have to meet at the designated time for assisted transfer to the base. Overall a wonderful stay, was way too short as we arrived late but in time for dinner. Wpuld have loved to spend more hours enjoying the sand dunes in this quiet part of Wabiba Sands.

Amazing - what a place! We would recommend whole-heartedly!

Kind, helpful, funny staff. Sand dunes all around - and we had the Sultan camp to ourselves. Sunrise and sunset were spectacular and the desert so vast and peaceful. A fun camel ride after breakfast, after camel kebab for supper!

This is a great pick if you like to be secluded for a night- which we wanted. We stayed with kids and they loved to run

The location!! It’s so private and beautiful, the sand dune in which the tent is placed. The iron terrace on which you can lie and stargaze in the evening is nice. The team was so friendly! Abdullah drove us to our tent and then to the other camp for dinner and breakfast, he’s such a positive minded person who made us laugh and enjoy his driving skills!

Amazing stay in the desert

We loved our stay in the Private Sultan Desert Camp. The tent had a beautiful location and was very clean and cozy, with a private (outdoors) bathroom. The contact with the Hosts was great. Car tyres can be deflated at the meeting point and the person picking you up is dealing with the formalities (however you have to pay 1 rial for deflating and reinflating on your way back, which we knew about). The camp is operated by the same owner as Nomadic Desert Camp, where all the meals will be served (you will be escorted to the camp after dinner, what a thrill to drive in the desert in the night!). BBQed camel was absolutely delicious. The meals are simple but tasty. We booked a sunset camel ride and absolutely loved it, Beduin Humeid made sure we had a great time and were safe on the camels. In the morning we climbed a dune for a sunrise. All in all - unforgettable experience and I would do it again tomorrow!

EVERYTHING! It is a family business and we met 3 brothers. There are 2 tents far from any other facility, when we were there we were the only one and it was amazing being alone in the middle of the desert. Beds are comfortable, bathroom has everything you need. Dinner and breakfast are in another facility close by and you will be brought there. Communication before arriving was excellent, everyone speaks good English. Abdallah stayed with us all the time and he was so nice, we talked a lot and shared views about life. In the evening we had a chat also with Rashid in front of a fire drinking tea. I think this is the best way to live the desert, our experience was amazing. As activities we did 2-hours dune safari for sunset and 20-mins camel ride in the morning, we really liked it. Thanks a lot!

Wonderful evening in a bedouin tent in the desert with activities.

BRING CASH FOR ACTIVITIES - there is no mobile reception to take payment. We wanted a remote evening in a bedouin desert camp - and we had this wonderful experience! The camp is very far into the desert making it quiet and remote. NOTE: There are 2 camps with this company - this bedouin camp with only 3 tents and private facilities and a main camp with huts where you eat dinner and breakfast. We prebooked a 20 min camel ride and 2 hour 4x4 desert dune experience which was different as we also went to Abdul's camels where he fed them - they are so calm and walked over to him. Then sunset on a sand dune with freshly made tea. Driving back we saw lots of desert mice in the head lights. The camel ride in the morning was wonderful - I have never been around or on such calm and chilled camels - no spitting or biting, nothing that would cause kids to be scared. The dinner was fairly basic (I did expect it to be simple) but delicious and plenty of it with soup, some meats and vegetables and a local treat around the camp fire for dessert. We were driven back to our bedouin camp to enjoy watching the stars (and shooting stars) in the middle of the sand dunes where is was quiet and dark with minimal light pollution. Wear socks to bed it gets very cold at night!

Wonderful place. Located in the middle of nowhere will be perfect for people who want authentic experience on the desert, away from light and noises - just you an nature. Personell will take care of you, very friendly and fun family is running this place. Getting to the tents gives you opportunity for small offroad. Food is good, atmosphere is better! Please keep in mind that meals are served in the bigger tent but you will be drive there.

Perfect desert experience

We have stayed one night in the Sultan Desert Camp. They gave us an appointment in a little city outside of the desert. After tire deflate, we have followed the guide til Nomadic Camp. We were nicely welcomed. A little later, the guide drove us to our tent a little further in the desert. We have enjoyed a very nice sunset. The tent is very confortable. The shower is very basic but so good to take a shower in the desert without a roof. The guide drove us back to Nomadic camp for nice buffet dinner. We ate camel kebabs. Tea time with fire camp was great. Very good night with amazing stars observation. Breakfast at Nomadic camp was very good. Then we did a camel ride of 30 minutes. Finally the guide has guided us back to the tire shop. The camp was not full when we stayed there and the experience there was excellent. It's a family business driven by very nice and welcoming persons.

If you’re looking for a genuine Dessert Stay, Nomadic Dessert Camp will not disappoint!

A 5-Star Experience in the Heart of the Desert! Our stay at the Nomadic Desert Camp in Oman was truly exceptional, and we would confidently rate it as a 5-star experience. From the moment we arrived, we were met with warmth and a welcoming host; Humied who owned the camp, he made us feel right at home. He was genuinely friendly, ensuring that every aspect of our stay was comfortable and memorable. The camp offers a tranquil escape, perfect for those looking to connect with nature. The food was delicious, with traditional flavors that added to the authenticity of our experience. One of the highlights was watching the breathtaking sunset over the dunes—a sight that will stay with us for a long time. We also had the opportunity to drive through the desert in our 4x4, following an experienced guide, which added an element of adventure to our stay. Riding camels was another memorable activity that brought us closer to the rich culture and beauty of the region. Our family had an amazing time, truly bonding and appreciating the serene surroundings. We highly recommend this camp to anyone seeking a similar experience, whether you’re a family or a solo traveler. The Nomadic Desert Camp is especially family-friendly, making it the perfect choice for creating unforgettable memories. Tom, Tara, Evie & Lottie.
