“Overwhelming love of Bialowas.”

The owner Iwona was the best host and her home cooking was superb. We had the best time in Bialowas. Friendly and was made to feel right at home.

The hostess, also the owner of the property, drew on her prior experience in the hospitality industry to make my stay exceptional. Rooms were well appointed, clean and comfortable. The building has a small number of guest rooms on the upper level with a communal bathroom, fridge and tea/coffee facilities. Breakfast was a spread of various types of bread, cheeses, cold meats, and was usually accompanied with hot sausages and/or scrambled eggs and/or soft-boiled eggs (based on the availability of ingredients). Some vegetables are grown on the property. There were about 5 or 6 different tea types to choose from, ranging from regular to fruit-flavoured. Please let the hostess know about any special dietary requirements like vegetarian, or "no red meat" (as in my case) in advance. I requested daily evening meals at an additional cost. The hostess had time and availability so an impromptu late-evening guided walk into the local forest was organised for all interested guests. On the walk, I got to sample wild berries growing along the path. The forest is within a 5-minute walk from the property. There are plenty of opportunities for landscape and wildlife (especially bird) photography. The town of Szczecinek is worth visiting, as are the gardens of Połczyn-Zdrój. The area also has a few spots for those interested in history (Szczecinek for WW2, Drawisko castle for older history). I also took a day trip (1.5hr drive to Łazy in season) to see the Baltic Sea: it was my first visit since 1987 (aged 8) due to various emigrations. I am of an introverted personality, and I was extremely happy with this choice of this quiet, peaceful, away from the crowds location. Białowąs is on a very local road, so there is not much traffic speeding past.
