“be careful as they withold deposit to make more money! scam!!”
The apartment was not clean on arrival (ants in the kitchen, hair in the bathroom, dirty courtyard). Yet the host deducted €50 from our €200 damage deposit for “cleaning,” citing only that we hadn’t dried and put away dishes, some breadcrumbs were on the floor/sofa, and our 1.5-year-old left fingerprints on a window. The deposit on Booking.com is explicitly for damages, not cleaning. At check-out they asked solely about damages—no mention of cleaning. Emails since then have been ignored or contradictory. Unfair and misleading experience—filing a formal complaint with Booking.com.
