“Beautiful location, amazing history and heritage, perfect for 1 or 2 night stay”
The apartment is in a narrow side street between the two main squares in Besalu so really handy for coming and going. Everywhere was only minutes away. The apartment was not fancy, but it was comfortable. The beds were great. We had a balcony window in the kitchen/living and in the bedroom and there was lots of storage and some basic supplies. The owner's mother and daughter met us with the key, and gave us a warm welcome. We arrived during the annual Medieval festival weekend so there was loads going on and a great buzz around the village. The history of Besalu is in every stone building, every wall, every street - it's a beautiful place and full of tourists who arrive every day for a stroll around and some history and heritage. There are lots of restaurants and cafes, though places close early and on the last night of the festival, everywhere was closed by 11.30pm. Besalu is really beautiful and well worth a visit - down by the river was the perfect spot to avoid the crowds on the street during the festival weekend, and enjoy a paddle or swim to cool down...
