Overview
The Hotel Bernina Hospiz is located at 2309 metres altitude on the Bernina pass and has a terrace with glacier views, a cosy Italian restaurant and offers free internet. From June to November, the Hotel Bernina Hospiz can easily be reached by the legendary Berninaexpress train from Chur, Celerina and St. Moritz. Cars can be parked free of charge on site or against surcharge at the hotel's garage. There is a rustic „Stübli“ suitable for various events and meetings, a common room with a TV and a play room with a flipper and table football. Within a 5-minute drive you can reach the Diavolezza/Lagalb ski area and there is also a huge network of cross-country tracks between Pontresina, Maloja and Zernez at your disposal. The Ospizio Bernina is also a great base for snow kiters and for ski or hiking tours. Several professional athletes and teams stayed at the Albergo to train in high altitudes.

To stay in the mountains and arrive by the famous Bernina Paa railway is pretty unique. The staff were friendly and helpful. The en site restaurant offers good basic food, but the choice is limited. Our traditional room was clean and comfortable, although the over bath shower could be tricky for anyone with mobility issues.

Well located and can be reached by public transport. We walked from Ozpizio Bernina to Cavaglia and that was beautiful. The next day took the bus right outside the hotel for 20 mins to our hike to Saoseo. The sauna is very new and a great add-on for 10 francs per person. The pizza at the pizzeria was the perfect dinner. Service wasn’t too fast but it doesn’t need to be when you are in the mountains.

It was a truly unique stay. I booked a dormitory, but it was perfectly adequate for me, as I planned to return to the hotel only to sleep. The room was relatively small and modestly furnished, but very clean, warm and pleasant. The bunk beds are a bit low, but very comfortable, with clean bedding and fragrant towels. It was off-season, so there were very few people in the hotel, so it was very quiet and cosy condition. The ataff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I am extremely grateful to them for all their kindness and service. Breakfasts: simple but delicious. I am extremely grateful to them for all their kindness and service. The restaurant also offers delicious food with local specialities at reasonable prices, as well as delicious coffee. Location: excellent – a bus stop right next to the hotel and the Rhaetian Railway station just a few minutes' walk away (although in icy and snowy conditions, it may take considerably longer). It is easy to get here from early morning until late evening, and it is an excellent base for trips to the direction of Pontresina and St. Moritz, as well as to the Poschiavo Valley and and Cavaglia in Italy. Also an excellent stop on the Albula Railway Line, with the option of taking the Bernina Express. It is also a great place to stay if you are planning mountain trips to Diavoleza and climbing the surrounding peaks, as well as the Morteratsch Glacier. And the views? Breathtaking! What a wonderful place! What a wonderful adventure it is to eat breakfast and start the day with such a magnificent view outside the window... I will often think back to this place, and if circumstances allow, I will definitely return for more stays.
